Stephen Colbert recently hosted Jonathan Safran Foer on The Colbert Report to discuss his latest book, Eating Animals.

Foer discussed the realities of how factory farms and the mass production of meat affects animals, giving the example that turkeys today don’t get it on.

“The Thanksgiving turkey isn’t even capable of sexually reproducing anymore,” Foer said.

When Colbert asked how turkeys multiply, Foer first joked that they are stimulated by porn.

Stimulated by PETA anti-fur ads featuring naked women, no doubt.

“They’re all artificially inseminated,” Foer claimed.

Not resisting the chance to offend, Colbert placed a plate of bacon in front of Foer, which Foer, keeping in theme with animal reproduction, labeled as merely, “flaccid.”

After being sent a letter from PETA that suggested they consider a vegetarian lifestyle and encourage fans to do the same, the Zac Brown Band has fired off a response on Twitter.

And it’s not exactly “We’ll have to try that sometime.”

“Dear PETA – Plants are living creatures too… Bacon had a mother but so did Pickle. It takes life to support life – welcome to the planet.”

The band must not have gotten their point across in one Tweet, because the next day, another reply was posted.

“Chicken is the new tofu.”

Sure.

And heart disease is the new white meat.

Stella McCartney and her sister Mary recently attended the UK premier of Food Inc., a film on the food industry, corporations that play key roles in it and how this affects human and animal health.

Although the film isn’t specifically directed at converting the world to vegetarian, Stella believes the film will force people to reconsider the meat they eat after watching it.

“Once you’ve seen the film, you’ll be educated to know how to make responsible decisions about what you buy,” Stella said.

Director of the Oscar nominated film, Robert Kenner, said, “There’s this myth that our food comes from a small little farm with white picket fence and a red barn. So much of it comes from mega factories and it’s becoming more and more industrialized.”

”They’re using more and more chemicals and creating very strange food that’s not ultimately good for the land it grows on, not good for the water, not good for the animals, and not good for us the consumer.”

Olympic snowboarder Hannah Teter is featured in the 2010 Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.

She looks just as athletic there, only with less clothes on.

If you haven’t clicked away to her swimsuit pic and are still reading this, you should know that according to MNN, Teter eats an organic vegetarian diet and supports living local by selling Vermont made maple syrup through her charity, Hannah’s Gold, which helps provide clean drinking water and land for homeless AIDS victims in Kenya.

Teter won the gold medal in the women’s halfpipe competition in the 2006 Olympics and has appeared on reality TV show Punk’d.

Once again, Wolfgang Puck will be in charge of catering the Academy Awards governor’s ball.

According to Eonline, Puck has been preparing dishes for everyone who attends for the past 16 years.

And when Puck says everyone, he includes the vegetarians.

“We have almost everything,” Puck said. “If somebody says, ‘I want salmon,’ we have salmon. If somebody wants vegetarian, we make it. It’s really just like a restaurant.”

Puck is no stranger to more compassionate food.

He made vegan pizza with Ellen DeGeneres on her daytime talk show, tossed the tofu for a party benefiting the Best Friends Animal Society and has spoken out on the cruel conditions factory farm animals endure.

Puck deserves a statuette of his own–one that’s delicious, edible, milk and butter free, caramel flavored…

Heather Mills may have been booted from Dancing On Ice, but her reality TV career is far from over.

The vegan chef and entrepreneur has announced she’d like a reality TV show where celebrities experience living with disabilities, according to The Telegraph.

And she already has one person in mind for the cast lineup–the famous “There’s no bigger pain in the world than a vegetarian” Gordon Ramsay.

“If it’s Gordon Ramsay, shove him in a kitchen and see if he can cook for the restaurant if he’s blindfolded, and have him live like that for a week,” Heather said.

Oh, no. Hope Gordon doesn’t catch on fire cooking any numerous animals like chicken, lamb or even puffin.

Better yet, blindfold Gordon, make him cook for a week, then feed him fake versions of real meat to see if he notices a difference.

Once he’s exposed on television for loving the taste of faux chicken, beef and pork, he’ll be banned from making another rude, anti-vegetarian remark again.
