If you’re a regular Whole Foods customer, this video made by Prius driving DJDave with Fog and Smog may bring back some pleasant and not so pleasant memories.

A self-professed rapper and consumer of natural, organic fare proclaims, “It’s gettin’ real in the Whole Foods parking lot,” as he discusses the difficulties shoppers in the San Francisco or Los Angeles area might encounter while trying to shop.

Lack of parking spaces, activists at the front doors getting ready to pounce on you for a signature and the disappointment of paying “80 bucks for six things” are included in the drama.

Bronx Zoo Cobra Tweets For Vegan NYC Restaurant

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, March 29th, 2011 in Animal Issues, Celebrity Tweets, Humor.

Faux Twitter accounts are as enjoyable as faux meat.

Follow the fake British Petroleum (BP) public relations account and you’ll agree.

An Egyptian Cobra has escaped from its enclosure at the Bronx Zoo, but wherever he may be located, there’s definitely a Wi Fi signal. @BronxZooCobra has been Tweeting away and recently asked for recommendations for a vegan restaurant.

Play Defensive Omnivore Bingo

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, March 16th, 2011 in Food & Drink, Humor, Offbeat.

A super funny creation by Brian VanderVeen, Defensive Omnivore Bingo has the announcer ditching the “B7” and “O63” for “Begins To Wax Sentimental Over Some Variety of Meat They Could Never Give Up,” “Mentions Canine Teeth,” and “Expresses Concern For Plant Suffering.”

Thumbs Up Cat Jimmy Is Tough Critic (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, March 3rd, 2011 in Animal Issues, Humor, Offbeat, Research + Science, Videos.

Anyone who’s ever owned a cat knows how picky the little creatures can be.

Wouldn’t it be nice if they gave you the “thumbs down” when they didn’t like the new litter instead of defecating outside the box?

Jimmy is a polydactyl cat, meaning he has a congenital physical anomaly that causes more than the usual number of toes on his paws. You may find more cats like him on the East Coast of the United States or in South West England.

Jimmy is one opinionated cat who puts the movie critics to shame.

We bet Jimmy gives thumbs up to spaying and neutering, shelter adoption and lots of love. Thumbs down to buying pets from shops and that annoying dog next door that jumps over the fence just to bark at him and poop in yard.

Stephen Colbert Congratulates Sea Shepherd For Ending Whale Hunt (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, February 17th, 2011 in Animal Issues, Film & TV, Humor, Videos.

Stephen Colbert took time to congratulate anti-whaling activists and all of those associated with Sea Shepherd after the recent announcement that Japanese whalers have suspended the annual hunt in the Antarctic due to so much interference by activists.

As he wags his finger at “environmentalist blubber huggers,” Colbert understands why whales would be targeted.

After all, they’ve “swallowed our biblical prophets,” like Jonah,  “boy puppets” like Pinocchio and taken”prime sunbathing spots at the beach.”

It’s a shame, because the whalers were only killing them for research purposes, such as finding out what “teriyaki blowhole tastes like.”

The suspension, in addition to the reduced numbers of whales being brought back every year as a result of the Paul Watson lead organization’s tactics, is another sign that Sea Shepherd is accomplishing its mission.

“Portlandia” Renewed For Second Season. Prepare For Vegan Bike Joust.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, February 14th, 2011 in Film & TV, Humor.

Jonathan Krisel, Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen

In a first ever for the IFC, Portlandia, a comedy-sketch series that pokes fun of the left, has been renewed for a second season before season 1 has wrapped up.

Portlandia stars Saturday Night Live veteran Fred Armisen and his co-star, Carrie Brownstein, as they portray various characters that parody all things liberal. During the first episode, Armisen and Brownstein play a couple dining at a restaurant that professes to serve humane food that comes complete with a file on all the animals used for food,  including their photos. Not willing to take the waitress’ word, the couple pays a visit to the farm where the chickens are raised. This farm happens to be ran by a cult consisting of one man who happens to love multiple women, but makes room to enjoy his “Peter” (Armisen) on occasion too.

Brian Greene

Brian Greene, a theoretical physicist best known for his work with string theory, was recently on “The Colbert Report” to discuss parallel universes. You know, the same stuff you spend hours talking about at the bars.

Greene has been a consultant on shows such as “3rd Rock From The Sun” to ensure Hollywood knows what it’s talking about when it incorporates scientific information in episodes.

Colbert pokes fun of the recent Taco Bell lawsuit over the beef content of its tacos saying, “Is there a universe where Taco Bell serves beef?”

Greene replies that as a vegan, he doesn’t even want to think about it.

Last we heard, Greene was still searching the universe for the ultimate vegan pizza.

The video is below.
