Paula Deen

Of all the things Paula Deen is known for, vegetarian cooking is definitely not one of them.

But the Queen of cholesterol has managed to put together a refreshing pasta salad that doesn’t contain ham chunks and isn’t tossed with lard dressing.

Deen tosses in a plethora of vegetables in this bow-tie pasta salad–a trio of different peppers, onions and artichoke hearts.

Anthony Bourdain Calls Paula Deen Dangerous For Food Choices

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, August 22nd, 2011 in Chefs, Food & Drink.

Between his vegan hate speech and her butter and bacon cholesterol bombs, it seems like Paula Deen and Anthony Bourdain would be the best of friends.

But Bourdain has made some not so nice comments about some Food Network stars and Deen is on the naughty list for poisoning people’s arteries.

Paula Deen Diabetes Secret

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, May 2nd, 2011 in Chefs, Food & Drink, Nutrition-Health-Fitness, Research + Science.

You knew the cream filled double burger wrapped in bacon between two glazed donuts and deep-fried twice was going to catch up with her.

A story featured in the May 10 edition of the National Enquierer claims Southern Queen Paula Deen was diagnosed with diabetes several years ago. What’s worst, it hints Deen wants to keep this a secret, fearing revealing she developed a condition linked very closely to poor diet may make her look bad. Because it’s good for the brand to continue killing other people.

Paula Deen Vegetable Brand Coming Soon

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, September 29th, 2010 in Business, Chefs, Food & Drink, Videos.

Paula Deen is working on her own line of produce. Amazingly, from current reports, the line doesn’t include vegetables wrapped in bacon, dipped in butter and doubled fried.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Deen is working with both farmers and food producers and hopes to have the brand out next year and describes it as a “dream solution for young mothers” because of the quality of the food.

The southern food celebrity chef is using her 4-year old grandson Jack as the guinea pig, and Deen says he is fanatical about the broccoli.

If you won’t eat her broccoli, maybe at least the family cat will.

Paula Deen “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Cooks Non Pet Chickens (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, April 22nd, 2010 in Chefs, Not So Vegetarian, Videos.

Paula Deen was on Jimmy Kimmel last night demonstrating how to cook fried chicken.

A chicken that wasn’t her friend.

You see, Paula is an activist of some sort.

She has pet chickens that she calls “rescue chickens,” formerly sentinel chickens used to monitor diseases transmitted by mosquitoes.

She would never eat her pet chickens and said she loves opening her home to animals.

“I love anything with heartbeat to come into my house y’all,” Paula said while cooking the dead chicken.

“Okay. And now we’re going to fry something with a hearbeat,” Kimmel said.

“I don’t know them, and I don’t have a relationship with them. I’ve never scratched their ears,” Paula said in regards to the dead chickens.

Pet chickens= no food. Chickens you haven’t formerly introduced yourself to and scratched ears= fried chicken.

Sounds like Paula has a serious case of moral schizophrenia.

Paula Deen Hams It Up For The Holidays Again

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, November 25th, 2009 in Chefs, Not So Vegetarian.

Paula Deen - 'The Deen Family Cookbook'

It’s like pork Deja Vu all over again, this time creepier, with more killing and saturated fat.

This year for the holidays, Paula Deen donated a lot of ham to charity–25,000 pounds to be exact.

But it was the ham that bit back as someone threw the ham like a football and it smacked Paula in the face.

The Associated Press reported Paula said she was okay and it just “knocked me for a little bit” and she later Tweeted, “I’ve never met a ham that hasn’t stopped me yet.”

But ham, along with other meat, can stop people with its saturated fat and cholesterol levels, not to mention the horrible conditions pigs are kept in factory farms that send a personal invitation to diseases like swine flu.

Let that smack on the head serve as a wake up call, Paula.

Kate Gosselin To Join Cheeseburger Casserole Making Paula Deen?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009 in Chefs, Not So Vegetarian, Reality TV, Recipes.

Paula Deen - 'The Deen Family Cookbook'

The reports that Kate Gosselin may be doing a talk show have been confirmed, as Kate joined Paula Deen for a pilot taping in NYC recently.

Yes, the Paula Deen, the woman who puts a dairy farm’s worth of butter in her dishes, already laced with animal fat and other touches of “southern cooking.”

The gift giver of 25,000 pounds of ham last Holiday season. Yep, you remember.

If Kate starts cooking like Paula, she’ll have enough cholesterol on hand for every multiple birth mom in the country.

Paula is now targeting your children, with a recent “Cheeseburger Casserole,” one of several “kid friendly” recipes as described by msnbc.msn.com.

With evidence showing the buildup of fatty plaques in the arteries begins in childhood, a cheeseburger casserole filled with beef and cheese isn’t what we’d call “kid friendly.”

But it also serves as an opportunity to show that almost any traditional dish can be made vegetarian.

Substitute the beef for some Boca crumbles. Even pick up your favorite soy and non-dairy cheese if you want to veganize it.

If you’re interested in taking the challenge of de-cholesteroling Paula’s cheeseburger casserole, visit msnbc.msn.com.

John Salley: The Next Food Network Star

22nd Annual Sports Spectacular - Show

John Salley wants his own Food Network show!

From blogs.ajc.com:

“I’m shopping around for a cooking show. And I plan to do a reality show with my family, my wife and three kids. I’m about to take a flight to meet with NBC. And I’m trying to sell my cooking show concept to the Food Network.”

John has already created his own line of vegan, organic snack foods that he’s promoting.

It would be great to watch him whip up some of that Slam Dunk Guacamole on television.

And a nice alternative to watching Paula Deen put 10 pounds of butter in a casserole while she brags about bringing gifts of ham during the Holiday season.
