Christian Bale and his wife arrive at Los Angeles Airport.

Christian Bale said that although he had been a vegetarian since 7, he went on a meat eating rampage after viewing Life Is Beautiful.  But at least he’s sporting a nice animal rights shirt at the LAX airport.

Sea Shepherd was founded by Paul Watson, the same dude who runs the helm on the Animal Planet whale saving series Whale Wars.

According to green gossip site, Ecorazzi.com, Bale has been spotted in this shirt before.

Either he’s a Sea Shepherd lover or has a favorite shirt similar to Linus’ blanket that he just can’t do without.

We’re hoping for the first of the two options and that Christian cares about saving whales as much as Captain Watson and his Whale Wars crew does.

Now if we can just keep him on the veg path…

My real-life villain is … McDonald’s.

I drive … a Smart car but don’t use it much. My favourite ride is the bus; I like to get involved in the human pageantry.

The Cinema Society Screening Of The Brothers Bloom

Darren Aronofsky was the director for the The Wrestler, about a former athlete (Mickey Rourke) wishing he were still in his glory days.

Who would think the director for such a tough guy movie has a soft spot for such large animals?

The Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus are set to park themselves on Coney Island soon and Aronosky has written a letter to Taconic Investments, the company donating land for the circus, to reconsider that offer.

Aronosky wants Taconic to send the circus packing or at the very least impose some restrictions to ensure animals are mistreated less, that include:

1. Prohibiting the use of electric shock prods and bullhooks on elephants
2. Provide the elephants with soft surfaces to sleep, eat, and walk on at all times when they’re not performing
3. Prohibit the chaining of elephants except during medical care

Read the rest of Aronosky’s letter at peta.org.

Regardless of the natural conditions that can be mimicked, any animal performing in a circus is still not in an ideal habitat. Can animals ever work in this capacity and be healthy? Is there a way to create a healthy circus, where animals can be admired for their beauty and ability to learn?

VH1 Rock Honors - Show

If you rocked out with Def Leppard in the 80s (and still rock out on the karaoke machine during the weekends), regardless of how much much your children make fun of you, don’t feel bad!

Guitarist Phil Collen is 51, still rockin’ hard, and the picture of perfect health. Just tell the kids they better hope they look this good at half a century.

When Collen was asked jokingly asked during an interview if there was a law against being a hard rock guitar player and vegetarian, Collen answered:

“I’ve felt weird about eating meat since I was a kid. I’m a picture of health at 51. I hardly eat any kind of food. I’m a vegan. You don’t need meat to survive. It’s a pleasure thing.”

Not to mention there are more faux pleasure meats than groupies lined up in the refrigerator or freezer section of the grocery store.

Rock on, Phil. Rock on man!

Mario Batali Loves Eating Vegetarians For Lunch And Dinner

Joyful Heart Foundation Gala Celebrity Arrivals In NYC

Mario Batali and fellow vegetarian hater Anthony Bourdain recently did a Q & A session with fans and one person asked Batali what he thought of vegetarians.

“Some of my favorite things to eat are vegetarians!”

Ha, ha haaaaaa, Mario.

Gwyneth Paltrow scolded him for eating baby animals during their culinary adventures in Spain…On The Road Again, saying it was bad karma to do so. Of course, given her phony vegetarian history (turkey burgers, anyone?) she didn’t have much room to talk, but good for her for selectively taking up for some animals.

Yeah, we’re sure there’s even worse bad karma for those who eat baby AND grass fed animals.
