Persia White has an exclusive interview with Radar Online where she dishes the dirt about vegan fashion.

The hardest part about going vegan was finding non-leather shoes at first, but Persia soon found out there are plenty of animal free alternatives to replace the ones she gave away.

“At first Leather was hard, because of giving away all of my shoes,” Persia says. “Lately, it’s changed. There is a world that is growing and expanding that is cruelty-free designers!”

Persia White “Earthlings”–How It All Vegan

Discovery Channel's Animal Planet Show "Whale Wars" Event

Persia White co-produced the Joaquin Phoenix narrated Earthlings, a film about the use of animals by humans for food, fashion and entertainment.

Seems natural for a vegetarian gal like Persia to have such passion for a project, and Persia explained to Beauty Interviews how she joined forces with director Shaun Monson and Phoenix help create an award winning film.

“I met Shaun Monson the director and he was trying to put together Earthlings as project of passion. I was already involved in animal welfare. Getting involved in Earthlings was pretty intense because there were still a lot of things I didn’t know. To raise compassion and awareness is so necessary. The documentary is not just about animals it’s about how we treat each other as well. How we have empathy for the weak and we don’t abuse it. It exposes the truth. It is a very difficult film to get into mainstream because there are so many corporations that will hurt if their secrets revealed.”

“It was very difficult. Joaquin Phoenix is a wonderful actor, and like myself, a vegan. However, Joaquin is booked and away so much. He’s schedule was intense. But we did it. The music was donated by Moby.”

Thank goodness Moby‘s music was used versus Phoenix’s rap tracks.

Discovery Channel's Animal Planet Show "Whale Wars" Event

“Thanksgiving is a time to reflect and express our gratitude for all that we have to be thankful for. In the true spirit of this holiday, take a moment to think about the importance of all life. By choosing a vegetarian diet, every one of us can take part in ending the cruelty animals endure on factory farms. Like cats and dogs, turkeys are intelligent, social, and sensitive beings who want to live. Give thanks this holiday and save a life.”

Several vegetarian and vegan hip hop stars will be making guest appearances in the film, In Pursuit Of A Green Planet, a documentary on food choice, health, and the planet.

In the film, Keith Tucker travels the country on a Greyhound bus powered by recycled vegetable oil while he makes the transition from eating the average American diet to a totally organic, vegan one.

Tucker brings along some adolescents who are already experiencing diet related health problems and are at a crucial point to change their lives forever. Not only do the kids get lessons in making themselves and the planet healthier, they get the privilege of meeting some awesome veggie hip hop stars along the way, like Saul Williams, Persia White, Justin Bua, Stic Man, and KRS One.

According to hiphoppress.com:

“The goal of the “Pursuit of a Green Planet” documentary is to take an inside look at how the food we eat affects our health and tie healthy living back to the origins of Hip Hop. As Hip Hop was a pioneering art form for the urban community looking for a better life in the late 70s, “Pursuit of a Green Planet” brings those ideals full circle by incorporating Hip Hop into the Green Movement.”

Phoenix’s New Script Line: Do Re Mi Fa So La Milk No

PETA's 15th Anniversary Gala and Humanitarian Awards - Arrivals

Joaquin Phoenix has left the building. Well, the director’s building, that is. After over two decades of acting, the Golden Globe winner wants to concentrate on his singing career. His veganness may give him an advantage.

Many singers refrain from dairy before a performance, saying it creates mucous and clogs their pipes. Some in the medical profession disagree, but those who follow the practice would bet a record contract on it.

Vegan actress and singer Portia White (who co-produced an animal rights film Phoenix narrated, Earthlings) once remarked how she noticed less problems with sinus and congestion hindering her voice once she made the transition to completely vegan.

Wishing him well on his vocal endeavors, everyone take a deep breath and sing, “Do Re Mi Fa So La Milk No.”
