Michelle Forbes On “True Blood” 2 Finale: Meat Tree Was Repulsive

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, September 10th, 2009 in Actresses, Film & TV, Videos.

SyFy / Entertainment Weekly Party

We recently learned that True Blood star Michelle Forbes has been a vegetarian for a long time-30 years!

So when it came time to film the season 2 finale of True Blood, Michelle was a little queasy about the set surroundings when it came to the “Meat Tree.”

Some bits from trueblood-online.com:

I assume you weren’t cutting into an actual human heart. Please tell me you weren’t.
Michelle: No, no. I’m not sure what it was, but we all got creeped out when I cut into it because it made the worst squishing sound in the world. The irony is that I’m a 30-year vegetarian. I’ve been an animal activist my entire life, so the role of Maryann has been a bit challenging – especially with the lovely meat tree – Di-meat-tree, as he became known.

That tree is repulsive. Tell us about it.
Michelle: It was filled with real meat and reeked as the weeks wore on. There are bobcats and coyotes roaming around that ranch where we shoot, so they had someone sit by the tree with a gun at night to protect it.

Real meat? Men willing and able to shoot and kill more animals to protect the already dead ones?

True-ly uncool, especially since fake meat props would be easy to create, as such was done with the vampire horror flick Moby starred in, Suck.

Here’s the promo for True Blood Season 2 finale, which airs September 13 on HBO at 9PM.

Jenny McCarthy Vegan: Rachael Ray Block Party Announcement

Jenny McCarthy Hosts An Evening At Pure

Surprising news of all news.

Jenny McCarthy has publicly stated that she’s a vegan.

Celebrity chef Rachael Ray threw a Big Block Party in Jenny’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois to kick off her 4th season of the Rachael Ray Show that will air September 14 at 10 AM.

According to chicagotribune.com, Jenny and Rachael engaged in some chit chat and Jenny made suggestions for her hometown favorite foods.

Jenny recommended pizza from Giordanos.

“You’ve got to try the sausage one,” McCarthy suggested, “even though I’m now vegan.”

Hopefully, Jenny knows what vegan means and she’s not one of those chicken eating vegetarians like Eve.

Jenny has been outspoken on autism and her son, and some people believe switching an autistic child to a vegan, gluten-free diet improves symptoms.

Jenny has even recommended vegan, gluten-free Nana’s Cookies as one of her preferred products.

Could this have been a factor in Jenny’s switch?

All we can say is great for her, hope she keeps it up.

Now, let’s work on that animal killing Botox issue.

Pamela Anderson still showing she has the sex symbol power in this anti-animal hide PSA she recently took part in.

Featuring appearances from celebrities like Steve-O, Nina Hagen, Carol Leifer and Andy Dick, Pamela plays airport security and means serious business when she says Cruelty Doesn’t Fly and strips passengers of all fur, leather, and other animal hides.

PETA once again got one of its commercials deemed to racy to air, this time by CNN Airport Network.

Yes, there are pat downs.

Yes, there are strip searches.

There are even completely naked people (leave mouse on “X” in case boss walks in your office).

Makes you want to fly the friendly skies more often.

Stacy Haiduk Cat Purse At Daytime Emmy Awards

The 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards at Orpheum Theatre in LA F to the R to the E to the A to the K! Stacy Haiduk decided to make a fashion statement at the recent Daytime Emmy Awards by wearing her cat. Yes, this is a real cat. Dead. And stuffed. Mr. Kitty was Stacy’s co-star on The Young and the Restless for several months. Is this why soap opera audiences are dwindling? Mr. Kitty was someone’s living pet, and now has the pleasure of being immortalized thanks to a taxidermist. 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards - Arrivals

Stacy was quoted in the New York Post as saying:

“It was for the fans. I feel that this cat was somebody’s lovely, beloved animal. They loved him so much they had him preserved, and I thought since Mr. Kitty has had such success on the show, he deserved to be at the Emmys.”

Since Stacy was talking about how much Mr. Kitty was loved, it would have been a great opportunity to talk about animal charities that love cats, like Ally Cat Allies, which aims to reduce the number of cats killed in shelters by providing education and awareness of spay and neuter services, feral cat care, and other services to improve the lives of cats.

Tribute or terrible?

Cat worshipper or Crazy Cat Lady?

What do you think?

Premiere Of Summit Entertainments Premiere Of Sorority Row - Arrivals

A few days ago we told you that Sorority Row, the new flick Rumer Willis is starring in, was filmed in an actual slaughterhouse and the whole experience creeped Rumer out.

Apparently, Rumer recovers quickly and she doesn’t think about the “drains on the floor” and “weird hooks on the ceiling” when grabbing a bite to eat.

From a recent Tweet:

“Really excited about Letterman tonight…and then I’m off to Chicago. I heard about some great burger places.”

Arrgh!

Don’t know about you, but spending time in a slaughterhouse is enough to make us cross the street when approaching Burger “Paradise.”
