Constance Marie On Kid Versus Vegetable Matches

Constance Marie

Constance Marie is like many mothers in the world who may sometimes struggle with getting their children to eat their vegetables.

The Switched at Birth actress even went so far as to join a mom’s group where the leader was a therapist and confused her with vague, new-agey advice about fighting and avoid food battles.

“I realized a lot of children don’t like their vegetables,” Marie writes as People’s Celebrity Blogger. “NEWSFLASH: I am a vegetarian. I also wanted to raise my child vegetarian — there was no way I was going to raise a vegetarian who hated vegetables.”

“A secret lil’ thing I like to do to spread the organic word is to purposely walk into a store, find the manager or sales person and ask them point blank if they have any green or organic versions of their products. When the answer is, “Um … Well … No” I say, “Oh! Bummer I really wanted an organic version of (whatever they sell).” It isn’t a lie, I really do! Then I leave.”

“I know, I know, sounds crazy! But then again, maybe not so much? If stores and vendors know there is a demand for organic products, they will make them. The more they make, the more the cost comes down. Babies will have better products and everybody will be happy. We can all do that and become what I call “easy greeny mommies.”

Constance Marie says the nursery for 16 month old Luna Marie is 90% green.

“I am not perfect — 90 percent was all I could do. Every bit counts!” Marie told People’s Celebrity Baby Blog.

Marie is constantly looking for ways to make that 90% a 91, 92 or even higher by reading Greenopia, a one stop guide to everything green from household products, foods, pet products, jewelry and product ratings.

Marie’s main targets for greening the baby’s room included the paint, which was low or no VOC, the mattress–made with natural rubber, and clean air.

Constance Marie Dines On Salad Every Night

Genesis Awards 2009

Constance Marie (Angie Lopez on George Lopez) gave birth to baby Luna Marie 4 months ago and she’s looking as good as ever.

She revealed some of her post baby workout secrets to Celebrity Baby Blog along with the fact that she maintains a vegetarian diet, eating salads every evening.

The first reaction to this is yuck! Who wants to munch on overpriced arugula every night? Certainly not Barack Obama!

But vegetarian salads don’t have to be boring and remind you of pet grass.

Chickpeas, beans, and avocado make for lovely toss ins. Mock egg, tuna, or chicken salad imitate picnic favorites or hearty lunch bowls at work or home.

So it’s time to get our salad on! The Veggie Table has a list of every salad a vegetarian could combine with plant proteins and the produce section.

Give it up for deviled tofu, swiss chard with sesame seeds, and winter white bean to name a few.

Check out theveggietable.com for the rest.
