Comedian and co-executive producer of Rules of Engagement Carol Leifer has a serious tip for those wanting to save the planet.

When Mother Nature Network asked her to share her tip for going green, Leifer replied:

“Did you know that by going vegan you are so much more ecological and green than anything else? You make so much more of a statement with your fork than what you drive. So go vegan, people. Do it for the environment. And do it for your health, too.”

Vegan comedian and writer Carol Leifer will be attending Compassion Over Killing’s (COK) 15th anniversary celebration this Saturday, December 4th, 2010 at the Silver Spring Regional Center in Silver Springs, Maryland. Will you?

The event includes an all you can eat cruelty-free vegan food and drink experience, a silent auction, plus the opportunity to be in the presence of other activists like Maryland Senator Jamie Raskin, NBC4 anchor Wendy Rieger and Paul Shapiro, COK founder and senior director of Humane Society of the United States’ factory farming campaign.

The musical groups Social Distortion and JP, Chrissie & the Fairground Boys will be performing at the 2010 Animal Acres Gala on September 11th at the Animal Acres Sanctuary and Compassionate Living Center in Acton, CA.

The event beings at 5:00 PM with a “Cowtail Party,” where attendees can mingle with the “guests of honor”–cows, chickens, pigs and other rescued farmed animals.

Celebrity Apprentice hasn’t been too nice to vegetarians, as the potential CEOs have been given the “You’re Fired” order with neither a fruit basket nor a severance package.

This season comedian Carol Leifer was the first to go (but she did squeeze some money out of Donald for an animal charity), while Herschel Walker got the pink slip after he failed trying to make executive decisions about chicken when he doesn’t even eat it.

Donald Trump has donated $10,000 of his own money to the North Shore Animal League.

Vegan Celebrity Apprentice contestant Carol Leifer was competing so her favorite charity would win the big prize of $250,000.

Unfortunately, Leifer was sent home packing after her team thought she wasn’t a good fit for the project of running a diner.

Leifer said of her exit, “I saw myself being able to win it all, you know? It’s really a stone cold bummer that I’m the first one out!”

Leifer may not have won, but thanks to Trump, dozens of animals at the New York no kill shelter will come out winners.

Carol Leifer is set to make an appearance at the Tuscon Festival of Books on March 14 to discuss her latest book, When You Lie About Your Age, The Terrorists Win.

During a recent interview with the Arizona Daily Star, Carol admitted there were a few drawbacks to her decision to go vegan.

“I think the thing I miss the most is cheese,” she said but added that “you can really work around anything.”

On the other hand, she’s being frugal by not purchasing pricier items made from animal products.

“I’m saving so much money because I don’t buy wool any more, and I don’t buy leather.”

Which probably explains why she’ll only splurge on a pair of Stella McCartney shoes every once in awhile.

“Stella McCartney is my new savior. It’s pricey, so I buy it sparingly. It’s really good stuff.”
