Dr. Oz Wife Lisa “The View” Grew Up Organic, Whole Grains (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, April 14th, 2010 in Food & Drink, TV Hosts, Videos.

Dr. Oz‘s fit, sexy and lovely wife Lisa recently appeared on The View with her husband, where she explained how she’s been a vegetarian since aged 15.

Dr. Oz gets shamed as Lisa “outs” him on the show, revealing how the daytime guru of health used to eat crap before meeting the woman of his life.

“I grew up with brown rice, whole grains, all organic. I’ve been vegetarian since I was 15.”

Sounds like Dr. Oz needs to invite his lady to the show more often for segments!

Sherri Shepherd “The View” Fur Catastrophe (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, November 13th, 2009 in Fur, TV Hosts.

Just when we thought The View was cool for giving out vegan bags.

Sherri Shepherd came out of the fur closet this Tuesday on the daytime talk show to model a full length fur coat!

What’s even worse, Shepherd was laughing and joking about it.

There’s absolutely nothing funny about killing an animal, electrocuting it and sometimes even skinning it alive to obtain it’s coat in the vain name of fashion.

And it took more than a handful of animals to make Sherri’s coat.

A Scent of Scandal owner Ari Solomon wrote on Girliegirlarmy.com:

“It takes 40 minks to make one fur coat like the one Ms. Shepherd wore on the show. These animals are kept in cages so small they literally go insane from running around in circles. Animals that are caught in the wild have their limbs clamped shut in iron traps. They are sometimes left for days bleeding, freezing and starving, often trying to chew off their own limbs, desperately trying to escape. When “fur animals” are slaughtered, they are killed by being vaginally or anally electrocuted. On some farms their heads are simply slammed against concrete floors. All this barbarity is so that their fur doesn’t get damaged. Sometimes it takes two or three electrocutions/head slammings before the animal dies. Even then, some survive and are skinned alive. Isn’t that luxurious, something to laugh about?”

It’s time Ms. Shepherd educate herself and take on another view about using fur for fashion.

Alicia Silverstone joined the ladies of The View to discuss her newly released vegan diet and lifestyle book, The Kind Diet.

Silverstone was looking hot as ever and the pictures of the food that flashed on the screen behind them were mouthwatering.

Joy Behar got some laughs when she asked Silverstone “What’s your idea of a “mean” diet?”

“I do cover that in the book,” Silverstone says, which she describes as “the nasty foods” like processed sugar, meat and dairy.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Defends Sarah Palin On The View

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, February 6th, 2009 in Animal Issues, TV Hosts, Videos.

Ashley Judd came to the defense of the wolves Sarah Palin advocated killing, now a celebrity is coming to Palin’s defense.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck of  The View is upset because she feels celebrities stand up for animal rights more than they do humans. She recently spoke about  Judd collaborating with the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund to expose Sarah Palin’s environmental track record.

“The problem that I have here is like a lot of these vocal celebrities, in a way, get very loud about these animal killings. Like is she loud as..she said, ‘How many wolves have been killed? 900 this year.’ Is she as loud about the 260,000 kids killed in abortions?”

Her comment results in Joyce Behar asking her to stick to talking about wolves as the discussion heats up.

The stereotype among many non animal rights activists is that the activists have more regard for animals than people. Do you think if animal rights activists voiced their support for human rights more often (while continuing to vouch for animals), they’d get a better reputation?

Whoopi Goldberg Imitates PETA Veggies For Better Sex Ad

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, January 29th, 2009 in Comedians, Videos.

Even if you’ve already watched and formed an opinion on the PETA ad NBC officials declared too sexy to show during the Super Bowl, you might want to have a look at Whoopi Goldberg doing her version.

On a recent episode of The View, Goldberg grabs her basket of cabbage, broccoli and other green vegetables and puts on a sexy show that’s almost too steamy for daytime television.

At last year’s Tony Awards, the comedian expressed excitement to try vegan hair products from PureOlogy  It’s no surprise she’d want to shake her stuff and show that everything’s sexier without animal products.

Super Bowl officials, it’s time to reconsider your decision. Whoopi’s ad is one that shouldn’t be nixed.
