Christie Brinkley is launching a line of natural, vegan skin care products with the help of an ex L’Oreal executive.

“Together we have been able to bring my vision to life and develop anti-aging products that really work. I am happy to say that they are 100 per cent Natural, Vegan and Cruelty free,” said the 57-year old who’s been a vegetarian for most of her life. “I hope you choose to give them a try and see why I am very proud to have my name on these products.”

I’m a mother of three kids, two of whom are quite young and I’ve got to be able to ski, snowboard, surf, kayak, paddleboard and all that stuff and dancing has now become a major way to be in shape for all of that. Christie Brinkley was fortunate enough to go veg before she bit her teeth into a McDonald’s hamburger.

When talking with Shape Magazine, the model who is just four years shy of 60 revealed her only experience was a french fry and a taste of shake. Both of those ended badly.

Shape.com: You’ve never had McDonalds?

Christie: “Never. Never ever in my whole life. I’ve never tasted McDonalds or Jack in the Box, because I was a vegetarian before those ever existed. I’ve tasted one of their French fries, pure grease, and I’ve tasted one of their malts. Yuck. I don’t even like the taste of it. I don’t like the film it leaves behind on my tongue. It just doesn’t feel good to me at all.

Vegetarian or vegan food at fast food establishments doesn’t restrict you to french fries (which, sometimes, like the case of McDonald’s, still aren’t vegetarian thanks to the addition of items like “natural beef flavor”).

Taco Bell’s refried beans are vegan and getting an item without cheese and sour cream can provide a fulfilling, quick meal for a vegetarian or vegan.

“When I am brushing my teeth, I’m bending my leg behind me, or I’m lifting my leg up and holding it in that position so I’m squeezing my butt in. I can do that while I’m washing or slicing vegetables, too. Or I go up and down on my toes, working my calves a little bit.”

Vegetarian model Christie Brinkley has been honored with the 2nd Annual HBA Positively Beautiful Award from HBA Global Expo for her support of Smile Train. The Dalai Lama has been quite a busy man.

At the age of 74, he has spent the last two months visiting Taiwan, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and Poland and has now embarked on a North American tour.

At his recent stop at the Peace Summit in Vancouver, there were several celebrities on the guest list, including vegetarians Christie Brinkley and Steve Martin.

The Dalai Lama himself follows a mostly vegetarian diet, but has been criticized in the past, most publicly by Paul McCartney, for following doctors’ advice that he needed meat when he was ill.

After the Dalai Lama stated, “As Buddhists we believe in not causing any suffering to any sentient beings,” Paul wrote to him and said, “Forgive me for pointing this out, but if you eat animals then there is some suffering somewhere along the line.”
