Jonas Brothers Launch Party For 77kids

Tim Martin, CEO and founder of iZO Cleanze, has just completed 100 days of juicing in an effort to transform his health.

iZO Cleanze products consist of 100% organic, vegan, raw and gluten-free juices, teas and cleansing elixirs and have helped Martin rid himself of Candida, lower his cholesterol, and drop 20 pounds.

Martin now plans to slowly add vegan foods to his diet, such as soups and salads and eat 80-90% raw.

Many celebrities have reported that iZO Cleanze does it for them as well, such as Patricia Heaton, Daisy Fuentes, Eva LaRue, and Tony Shaloub.

Sheryl Lee, actress in Dirty Sexy Money and Twin Peaks said:

“I did 10 days of the IZO cleanze over the holiday season and it was one of the best Christmas presents that I could have gotten. I took it as an opportunity to go inside and to let go of some things that were no longer working in my life and to open myself up to more health and more space for the good stuff. I feel so much better all around and even though I was a fairly healthy eater before, I am now craving even healthier foods and mostly raw.”

You can follow the iZO Cleanze CEO’s’ juicing journey on his blog.

James Cromwell Went The Whole Hog Going Vegetarian

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, February 19th, 2009 in Actors, Environment-Eco-Green, Food & Drink, Videos.

James Cromwell recently attended a screening of Fuel, a film about America’s dependency on oil and the need for alternative energy sources.

The Green Girls caught up with James during the screening to ask what lifestyle changes he had made to go “green.”

“I made a lifestyle change in 1975 when I became a vegetarian, and in ’94 when I became a vegan,” Cromwell said.

“If everybody would do that, we’d save a lot of water, a lot of land use, a lot wasted energy bringing protein to people through animals, a lot of suffering and a lot of greenhouse gases.”

“If people [would] just [cut out meat for] one meal a week, and then one day a week, and then maybe one week a year, they could make an incredible difference.”

Cromwell showed his humorous side when asked if he went “cold turkey” in going vegetarian.

“I went the whole hog,” he joked.

Cromwell sees going vegetarian as a “choice” rather than a “decision” because when you make decisions, it becomes an either/or situation and you “leave things out that are important,” rather than educating yourself on what makes a balanced veg diet and how to incorporate different foods into it.

Watch the video to hear the rest of the interview with James.

Warning: there is a creepy flashback of the early 90s Wayne’s World movie when The Green Girls play their musical slogan at the end of the video.

Victoria’s Secret PINK Body Gets Vegan, Organic On Us

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, February 19th, 2009 in Business, Cosmetics And Beauty Products.

vspink
Ethical beauty product consumers have long known about specialty brands like Aubrey Organics, that pledge to not use animal ingredients and do not contain dangerous chemicals.

But mainstream companies are catching on that beauty really is more than skin deep-all those toxins in some cosmetics are being absorbed into our systems and some studies show cause all sorts of maladies from skin irritation to cancer.

From the Victoria’s Secret Press Release:

INTRODUCING PINK BODY, a unique line of skin-loving and earth-friendly products created specifically for the pink girl. She spoke. We listened. The result? A more personalized approach to everyday body care using organic and vegan ingredients, powerful natural formulas and eco-friendly packaging.

Victoria’s Secret PINK collection features 100% natural, organic, vegan ingredients such as oatmeal, citrus, mint, coffee beans and soy milk. And absolutely no animal testing.

Coffee beans? Soy Milk? Sounds delicious, we know, but the products are only meant to be applied externally. Sorry.

The collection features four categories: Energizing, Nourishing, Soothing, and Essentials for dull, dry, sensitive skin, and everyday needs that any beauty type can use.

While this of course isn’t your $2 tube of lip balm, prices are reasonable, from $8 for lip butter to $15 for energizing body lotion.

Check out the entire collection of Victoria Secret’s PINK Body and shop for the vegan product that suits your skin best.

PETA Kissing Ladies Offending People, Including Lesbians

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, February 19th, 2009 in Misc Artists and Performers.

PETA has many foes and counting.

Their latest enemies include those offended by their Valentine’s Day display of two women kissing and showing affection to promote their “Vegetarians Make Better Lovers” campaign.

Since having to walk pass the display of lesbian affection that took place last week, numerous people have complained, including gays and lesbians.

According to politics.randomplayground.net, one blogger wrote in dismay, “All this little love fest shows is that lesbian relationships need validation and that women exist to titillate the sexual fantasies of men.”

The gay and lesbian blog, After Ellen, had this to say:

“PETA is placating to the stereotypical straight male fantasy that two women can’t wait for a big, burly man to come in and finish the job, or in this case, a big, burly broccoli-loving man. Sorry, PETA, but your latest stunt makes me hungry for a Big Mac.”

Fox News has proven it’s not a fan of PETA, as the station has aired programs with the anchors poking fun of the group, such as eating Kentucky Fried Chicken while making fun of their campaigns.

The station recently featured a PETA spokesperson to discuss the Veggie Love campaign. When the Fox anchor asked if PETA’s sexual gimmicks were an effective ad campaign, the PETA spokesperson cited numerous evidence that their campaigns worked, including people walking away with Vegetarian Starter Kits, and downloading vegetarian recipes after watching the NBC rejected Super Bowl ad on their website.

In all fairness, the viewers might have thought the links led to more porn, versus vegetarian info.

Seriously, though. Is PETA getting riskier and riskier with these sexual ad campaigns? In the beginning, there were nude, but still artful and tasteful photos of celebrities proclaiming to shun fur and embrace the meatless lifestyle. Now the group has progressed to veggie porn videos and public displays of lesbian affection, that even some lesbians find offensive.

Watch the video to view the interview between Fox and PETA. Should PETA start cleaning up its act or risk losing credibility?

UPS: What Can Brown Do For Lobsters? Nothing.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, February 19th, 2009 in Animal Issues, Business.

UPS Drivers And Union Leaders Protest Excessive Overtime

Not long ago, PETA saved a 120 year old lobster from becoming dinner in a restaurant. The group plans to return it to the sea. However, there have been problems booking his transportation.

The original plan was to ship the lobster from New York to New Hampshire via UPS. However, when the UPS driver arrived to pick up “Craig the Crustacean”, it was revealed the driver could not guarantee a safe ride for him because other boxes could be placed on top of him.

In the words of Stephanie Tanner from Full House, “How rude!”

Imagine living 120 years of life and barely missing the boiling hot water tank, on your way to freedom, only to be squashed by parcels of grandma’s stale cookies and sweaters and underwear mom sent Jack to his college dorm.

Craig’s not going out like that.

“The UPS man wasn’t compassionate at all,” said Ng, owner of the Japanese restaurant at which Craig is currently lodging. “I just thought, there’s no way we can leave him with this guy. We can’t trust him. It’s horrible.”

A volunteer is expected to transport Craig this Friday.

Paris Hilton’s Joke Vegetarian Birthday?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 in Actresses, Flexitarian.

William Rast - Front Row - Fall 09 MBFW

Paris Hilton is known for many things, but being vegetarian is not one of them.

However, USA Today printed an article recently wishing her a Happy Birthday, and the article said Paris was a vegetarian.

We guess along with pescetarian and flexitarian, there are now beef and pork slider vegetarians, as that’s what she was seen eating not along ago.

Either vegetarians are becoming more like some churches, changing the rules faster than lightening in order to attract and retain more members or someone picked up some incorrect information.

We suspiciously think there was some Clint Eastwood vegan urban legendness to this mistake.

The website, ParisHiltonZone.com, claims that Paris became vegetarian after watching a video on animal cruelty provided to her by Heather Mills.

“From that point I’ve never worn fur and I never will.”I also haven’t eaten any meat since. I just survive on pasta and stuff like that. I was grossed out. It was disgusting.”

Maybe Paris was a veg at one time, however short lived. Or maybe she’s a flexitarian?

Giving credit where it’s due, mom Kathy Hilton did buy Paris a faux fur for Christmas instead of the real thing, so maybe Paris at least isn’t down with wearing something that came from one of her chihuahua Tinkerbell’s cousins.
