Vegan Queen is a collection of luxurious animal and cruelty free handbags from model Evelina Zdunczyk.

The Queen of Vegan handbags recently teamed up with The International Fund for Animal Welfare’s (IFAW) Tails for Whales campaign by holding her Heartless Valentine’s Cocktail Reception at NYC’s LEED certified nightclub Greenhouse.

Tails For Whales is a petition the IFAW has started in an effort to protect whales from all most things mankind, womankind, humankind has threatened them with-commercial whaling, ship strikes, fishing gear, ocean noise, and climate change.

Vegan Queen Evelina’s bags have a nice celebrity fanbase, including vegan Russsell Simmons

The MOJO Honours List

“There were no vegetarian restaurants in Akron. Plus, I wanted to do something to help destroy the mall culture of downtown.”
—-Chrissie Hynde, singer and musician of The Pretenders, on why she opened a vegan restaurant, The Vegiterranean, in her hometown of Akron, Ohio.

Guess Chrissie got tired of looking at all the corporate fast food chain restaurants that lined the streets of Akron. But hey, Chrissie, not all malls are bad. Some have veg offering Subway Restaurants, for instance.

Hynde recently made news after she participated in a protest against McDonald’s as part of the McCruelty campaign launched against the company due to how it treats its chickens before and during slaughter.

She has said she would like to remain on earth until all McDonald’s have burned to the ground.

She’ll have to work a little harder if she’s trying to demolish the malls at the same time.

Heather Mills Vegan Food Shop In The Bronx?

Heather Mills Hosts Healthy Meal Cook-A-Thon with students in The Bronx

Heather Mills has been racking up the frequent flier miles taking trips from London to the U.S. and back.

According to the UK Daily Mail, Heather is interested in building a vegan food factory in the Bronx to help bring jobs to the impoverished area in which she is promoting her vegan charity with Hunts Point Alliance.

Heather has already donated a million dollars worth of vegan food and given vegan cooking lessons to families in the area.

We’ve been hearing lots of rumors on Heather’s vegan food factory from where it might be located to the brand name of the products to what ingredients she’ll be using.

Nothing is definite yet, but one thing’s for sure: we’re tired of waiting!

Steve Jobs, Champ Bennett Help iPhone Users VegOut

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, February 23rd, 2009 in Business, Food & Drink, Restaurants, Tech.

VegOut

VegOut

Navigating your way through a city you’ve never visited is bad enough without having to worry about finding a restaurant that serves good vegetarian grub!

That has changed. iPhone users can now locate veg restaurants with the VegOut application, which pulls restaurant information based on city and state.

The application was created by Brooklyn musician and free-lance software developer Champ Bennett, who personally asked Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who’s been known to waver from being a vegan to vegetarian to pescetarian, for his opinion on the application. He did get some response from Mr. Jobs.

“I couldn’t think of a better candidate to beta test the app”, Bennett said, according to a press release received via email by the blogger of Vegtalk.

“I wrote to him, and days later he actually wrote back asking when he could try it out! I responded asking for his UUID so I could build him a beta application that he could run on his iPhone. The next day he announced his hiatus from Apple and I never heard back again. Oh, well.”

The idea came to him after having a hard time finding a good place to eat while touring in Europe in mid-2008.

As of today, version 1.1 of the app is on Apple’s AppStore or click on this link to go straight to the application. For now, VegOut will only locate vegetarian and vegan restaurants, but there are plans in the future to add a function allowing users to download recipes.

MTV: Video Did Not Kill The Vegetarian Star

MTV Cannes Party 2003

MTV will be showing a series of pro-vegetarian commercials running over the next five weeks.

The ads will give a behind the scenes view of what goes on in factory farms with the TryVeg.com web address displayed on the screen for those who want more information.

According to Vegan.com, this release was made by Compassion Over Killing member Erica Meier:

“Our 2009 MTV Pro-Veg Ad campaign launches tonight: viewers around the country will see, perhaps for their first time, a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the cruel world of factory farming—and they’ll be further directed to visit our website TryVeg.com for more information.”

MTV is becoming more known for its skits and shows than music, so who knows where this initial vegetarian campaign might lead to. We’re thinking a “30 Days of Veg” for the hardcore steak eater might make for some interesting Reality TV.

Brigitte Bardot Wants Obama’s Seal Of Approval

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, February 23rd, 2009 in Actresses, Animal Issues.

Bridgitte Bardot Travels to Romania to Save Street Dogs

Brigitte Bardot, longtime vegetarian and animal activist and actress, is asking for U.S. President Barack Obama’s help in preventing the death of seals every season during Canada’s annual seal hunt.

Bardot said she has “immense hope” in Obama, “even if I know that he is in demand from all directions and he already has a lot to do in his own country.”

The timing of her letter writing coincided with Obama’s recent visit to Canada.

Several other celebrities have spoken in opposition to the hunt, such as Canadian natives Pamela Anderson and Bryan Adams, and most recently Nigel Barker documenting the lives of the animals before they are clubbed, in his film, A Sealed Fate.

Last year, the quota for clubbed seals was 275,000. After being killed, the seals are skinned for their pelts, which are later sold.

The United States has banned all Canadian seal products since 1972 and the European Union is considering a similar ban.
