A vegan bake shop in New Jersey is dedicating the passing of one of the greatest tech inventors by donating a pastry in his name to an animal-friendly research charity.

Sweet Avenue of Rutherford is giving a portion of proceeds from its Apple Pie Cupcake to the Gateway Center For Cancer Research to honor Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.

The app features smoothie recipes for weight loss, detox and pure taste enjoyment!

Stewart is a veg-friendly diva, and the app includes several recipes for smoothies that incorporate plant-based proteins, such as one for tofu and berries like the Power Protein Smoothie.

“Zuckerberg is known for taking on personal challenges, and he believes people “should take responsibility and be thankful for what they eat rather than trying to ignore where it came from.” Zuckerberg deserves credit for getting at least halfway through a mental lesson most people never bother to start. A new personal challenge could be for him to take this thought process to its logical conclusion, and to then act.”

“Zuckerberg is right. People don’t want to know the truth about the suffering and death that goes into their meat.”

Mark Zuckerberg

Each year Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has pledged to take on a new challenge. Last year it was learning Chinese. This year, it’s eating only what he kills. By doing so, he’s pretty much become vegetarian.

Zuckerberg told Fortune in a detailed email how the idea for doing this came about and how he’s not only eating healthier, but has learned more sustainable ways of producing food.

Heck, screw the cats–let them play with your regular computer. These sound like more fun for humans.

Forks Over Knives Nearest Theater

An extremely nifty tool was creator by one of Vegetarian Star’s Twitter followers @jrhicks.

The documentary that examines the claim that a plant-based diet can cure and reverse heart disease, Forks Over Knives, is out in select theaters across the United States. For some, it’s a matter of taking the train or driving a few miles, but for others, as the locator states, it’s a matter of “contemplating a road trip.”

At least that road trip is now a lot easier with detailed driving instructions, mileage, driving time and a map using Google Maps.
