Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney rocks up a storm for the Late Show With David Lettermen in New York

Any entrepreneur or developer knows getting a successful product out is more than just putting in eight hours a day.

There are often late nights, weekends, and pounds of bacon to shove down your throat regularly.

Neil Gillis, former managing director of Linda McCartney foods, has told the UK Guardian just how dedicated Paul McCartney was to improving the vegetarian food range of his late wife.

“He took over after Linda died and it was very helpful, he was very interested in the products, like when we developed vegetarian bacon – he ate it for breakfast everyday so was keen to get it right.”

Now veggie bacon is delish and all, but everyday for breakfast? That’s dedication!

Rupert Everett Quit Vegetarianism: Gave Weak Reason For Doing So

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 in Actors, Not So Vegetarian.

11th Annual Broadway Barks

Rupert Everett was recently on the Rachael Ray show where he announced he’s no longer vegetarian.

And he’s got such as WEAK excuse.

Last time Rupert was on Rachael Ray, Rachael made him a vegetable curry because she knew he was a vegetarian.

When Rachael mentioned she heard he was no longer vegetarian, Rupert rambled about loving cows, but enjoying meat, and feeling weak while being vegetarian.

Now, isn’t that just pathetic.

Rachael Ray threw in her ridiculous piece of information that her grandfather said eating meat was good for the blood.

Please stick to cooking, Rachael.

Sure, meat contains iron, which red blood cells need to function, but that mineral can be found in numerous plant sources like spinach, soybeans, seeds, tofu, beans, quinoa, and the list goes on.

Rupert’s British brother, Paul McCartney, might have a few suggestions for countering that “weak” feeling, especially since he’s got over another whole decade of years on him and is still going strong.

Yoko Ono and Heather Mills may be worlds apart in character, age, and professions, but they have one thing in common: Both were married to former members of the Beatles!

Yoko and the late John Lennon posed for a very sexy, “Give Peace A Chance,” photo that was later adapted to promote vegetarianism, starring Corey Feldman and wife Susie Feldman, the tagline changed to Give Peas a Chance.

Heather had a brief, extremely public, and tumultuous relationship with Paul McCartney that didn’t last, but we’re crossing our fingers her new vegan restaurant V Bites does.

So between the two “wives of a Beatle,” who would you rather…

Paul McCartney Chooses DoNUT Over DoNAIR

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, July 7th, 2009 in Food & Drink, Male Musicians, Male Singers, Recipes.

Sir Paul McCartney spotted in London

Paul McCartney had just finished up a chat with radio host Bobby Mac of Q104 in Halifax, Nova Scotia when Bobby recommended Paul check out some of the local food, including the donairs.

Donairs? Huh?

Donairs are delicacies prevalent on the Canadian East Coast. Donairs are to Halifax what Philly Cheesesteak is to Philadelphia.

There’s just one problem. Donairs are full of spicy beef.

“It’s got a lot of meat? Well, I’m not going to eat it then,” Paul said. “Save me a doNUT.”

Of course every optimistic vegetarian and vegan always tries their hand at plantifying any carnivorous dish and donairs shouldn’t be the exception.

Here’s a recipe for vegan donairs using Texturized Vegetable Protein.

Cause donuts really aren’t good substitutes for meals, you know?

Heather Mills works on her new vegan restaurant

Heather Mills put on her overalls and picked up a bucket of paint this weekend to scrub and decorate the walls of her new vegan restaurant, V Bites, that will open July 4 in the UK.

She was accompanied by daughter with former husband Paul McCartney, Beatrice, as well as some friends.

Heather is taking quite an active role in V Bites. Besides scrubbing and painting the exteriors, she’ll also be a regular chef on Sundays, cooking her favorite veg dishes of roast potatoes, parsnips, and veggie gravy.

Heather said what will shock people the most is that the faux meats taste just like the real thing.

We shall see!

Stella McCartney Says Family Not Out To Convert Meat Eaters

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, June 28th, 2009 in Environment-Eco-Green.

McCartney Family Launch Meat Free Monday - Photocall

With Paul McCartney’s Meat Free Monday campaign getting so much press, some flexitarians and meat eaters may wonder if they will relentlessly be harassed into total vegetarianism.

Granted, many vegetarians would like this to take place, but Paul’s daughter, Stella McCartney, is reassuring people that the family’s less meat approach is about trying to reduce some of the impact consuming meat has on the planet.

“It’s ok to just give up meat for one day, it doesn’t make you a vegetarian if you hate vegetarians, it doesn’t make you a cranky, hemp wearing pot smoker,” Stella said, in the UK Telegraph. “It’s alright, it’s allowed – it doesn’t make you a kind of the person you don’t want to be. It just means you are doing something positive.”

Of course Stella and the family still adhere to their strict vegetarian values.  But they’re not trying to point fingers at everyone. They just feel everyone should, ahem, “give it up,” at least once a week.

“If everyone gave it up on a Monday it would be more effective than everyone stopping driving their car on a Monday. We are not perfect. It’s so important to get that across because it’s like oh, those bloody Maccas, talking again about not killing cows! It is boring. But the reality is, I like to think I am trying to do my little bit. I will turn off a light when I leave a room; I will turn off a socket if I don’t want to be using the socket. And those are tiny little things.”
