After a battle with Lupus, the woman who inspired the Beatles song “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”, Lucy Vodden, has passed at the age of 46.

Lucy was a childhood friend of Julian Lennon, the oldest son of John Lennon and John’s first wife, Cynthia Lennon.

Julian painted a picture of Lucy with diamond shaped eyes and brought the picture home from school and told John, “That’s Lucy in the sky with diamonds,” inspiring the song which appeared on the 1967 album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Although John Lennon was a vegetarian, Julian hasn’t taken after dad in his diet.

One fan commented on Facebook about this and said:

“Jules, I was really surprised to find out that you are not a vegetarian especially since I know how much you express compassion towards the environment. However, I fully respect your decision, but it would be really cool if you could just take a minu…te to think about this issue and have a quick look at this website which lists some very good reasons why being veggie really does make a huge difference environmentally. Thank you for your consideration 🙂 I leave the last words to a truly great hero of mine:

“If anyone wants to save the planet, all they have to do is just stop eating meat. That’s the single most important thing you can do” – Paul McCartney.”

Yoko Ono and Heather Mills may be worlds apart in character, age, and professions, but they have one thing in common: Both were married to former members of the Beatles!

Yoko and the late John Lennon posed for a very sexy, “Give Peace A Chance,” photo that was later adapted to promote vegetarianism, starring Corey Feldman and wife Susie Feldman, the tagline changed to Give Peas a Chance.

Heather had a brief, extremely public, and tumultuous relationship with Paul McCartney that didn’t last, but we’re crossing our fingers her new vegan restaurant V Bites does.

So between the two “wives of a Beatle,” who would you rather…

CUN's 9th Annual Awards Celebration And Viewing Dinner - Show

Farm Sanctuary, an organization created to combat issues of animal abuse on farms,  will be holding a benefit on December 4th, 2008 at the Art Director’s Club in New York City.

“Winter Wonderland,” will feature gourmet food from NYC’s best vegetarian restaurants, a silent auction, and of course, celebrities to mingle with, like Corey Feldman.

Sure hope he’s wearing more than what he was in the Give Peas a Chance ad, which played upon one John Lennon and Yoko Ono did years ago. New York’s a little cold in December for that, Corey.

Other notables you might get to rub elbows with are Jennifer Coolidge, Peter Max, Patrick McDonnell, Tatum O’Neal,
Daniela Sea, Ally Sheedy, Princess Superstar, Loretta Swit, and
Justin Theroux.

General admission tickets are $100, so if you’re a young, freshly graduated from college adult or pinching pennies, put some back from your paycheck you got TODAY. It’s for a great cause and will put you in the mood for the season.

And who knows? Corey might not be wearing much after all.

For more information, visit the Farm Sanctuary website.

All We Are Saying Is Give Peas A Chance

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 in Actors, Models, Pop Culture.

If sexiness sells, then pea farmers should be millionaires soon. Corey Feldman, star of The Two Coreys, and his model wife, Susie Feldman, are starring in a new PETA ad, “Give Peas A Chance.”

The ad mimics the image created by John Lennon and Yoko Ono created years ago, with “Give Peace A Chance,” being the slogan.

“Susie and I choose the vegetarian way of life because for us, there really is no other choice. We must evolve as a race and as a planet, and evolution includes learning and changing from our mistakes. We will never truly grow until we as a whole come to the realization that all beings on this earth should be treated with love and respect.”

The ad will start running July 18th.
