Paul McCartney has become the latest celebrity to reach out to NASA, urging the agency not to use monkeys in radiation experiments to determine its effect on humans.

“I believe NASA has the ingenuity to investigate the health effects of space travel without confining and experimenting on animals as was done in the old days,” McCartney wrote, reports Gigwise.

“It would be terribly disappointing if in our zeal to explore new frontiers and to learn about the fascinating universe where we live we began to regress in our treatment of the animals with whom we share this planet.”

Earlier this summer HLN journalist, Jane Velez-Mitchell hosted an ex NASA employee who quit her job in development after learning about the experiments that the European Space Agency has no interest in.

NASA has used monkeys before to test the effects of space travel on the human body.

Mercedes CLS Takes Four Dead Animals To Make One Car

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, August 25th, 2010 in Animal Issues, Transportation.

Mercedes CLS

Is it a car? Or four dead animals?

Actually, it’s both. Mercedes has been boasting that it takes four animal skins to make one interior of their 2012 CLS cars.

“Four animal skins are processed for each CLS. The natural pore structure remains intact thanks to a light pigmentation, and the leather has an especially warm and soft feel to it. Premium leather requires a very precise manual selection process and therefore a high amount of raw leather.”

“Yeah, I’ve totally stuck with it. In fact, I’ve been on detox for about 2 weeks now, and I’m not taking any dairy as well. And I feel great, actually. I feel like, wow, this is cool. I’ve been reading a little bit, I had a debate the other week with a friend about the dairy industry. I said, I eat eggs, and he said, oh you can’t do that if you’re a vegetarian. And then I looked into it, and I found the dairy industry and the fact that they kill a lot of the male chickens because they’re useless, it’s quite barbaric.”

Fran Healy on how his promise to Paul McCartney to go vegetarian has also steered him away from eggs and dairy.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA - JANUARY 17: Musician Paul McCartney and girlfriend Nancy Shevell arrives at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 17, 2010 in Beverly Hills, California. (Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images)

Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell were spotted at Phillipe restaurant in New York sharing vegetarian fare during what People called a romantic dinner. Wonder if the pair opted for lettuce wraps or chose to get steamy early in the evening.

Phillipe, which has restaurants in New York city, Los Angels, Miami and the Hamptons, features a “Steamed” menu with seasonal vegetables that come with or without tofu.

A nice way to eat veggies as a switch from raw or fried, as steaming some of them, like carrots, zucchini and broccoli, may preserve antioxidants.

It’s been awhile since Paul McCartney had beef on a bun, so it’s only fit that the McDonald’s in his home town of Liverpool finally take those pictures of him and other Beatles off the wall.

The story made headlines a couple of years ago, when it was reported the singer was upset that over a dozen shots of the 60s iconic rock group were plastered over the Sefton Street fast food restaurant.

According to Contact Music, Britain’s Daily Star is reporting the pictures have finally come down.

Thanks goodness. McCartney has always sang, “Let It Be,” not “Let It Beef.”

Paul McCartney has given his support to an anti-whaling campaign that urges the Norwegian government not to lift a 25 year ban on commercial whaling.

McCartney said, “It’s time to end the cruel slaughter of whales and leave these magnificent creatures alone. In the 21st century how can we even contemplate killing whales – or any animal – in such barbaric ways? Governments should act on their responsibilities and protect these beautiful creatures.”
