Vegetarian Star

Dan Piraro is known for his humorous cartoons that illustrate vegetarian and animal welfare issues.

A vegan since 2002, he’s celebrating his 10,000th cartoon and is currently on his “Bizarro’s 10,00th anniversary tour,” doing an interview with media before each major stop, such as the one given to the Times Herald Online.

If  you’re still deciding on whether to spend your money on Piraro’s show or JLo’s, the cartoonist has a bit of advice.

Olivia Munn and vegan comedian Myq Kaplan are just two well-known funny stars with a love for animals that are headlining Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary’s Comedy for Karma IV on Tuesday, April 05, 2011.

The event is an annual fundraiser for the sanctuary which is home to dozens of chickens, pigs, cows, goats and other rescued farm animals that are available to interact with and get to know during its touring season.

The vegan who runs Bizarro.com has an iphone application that allows users to download a fresh comic every day.

“Boy, am I excited about it! I’ve been working for months with some very cool app designers here in NYC and we’ve come up with a new innovation in the comics-for-phones field!” Piraro blogged.

A public screening of Skin Trade, a documentary on the use of animals for fashion, will take place in Los Angeles on June 10, 2010, at the Majestic Crest Theatre.

The event will be hosted by cartoonist Dan Piraro, and feature vegetarian goodies from BabyCakes bakery, Scheese, Go Max Go and Vegan Plate.

Skin Trade features appearances by several celebrities known for their activism, including Jorja Fox, ethical designer Todd Oldham, author Rory Freedman, NBA legend John Salley and others.

This event is no April Fool’s joke and neither is the cause these comedians are coming together for.

Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary‘s third annual Comedy for Karma benefits the dozens of rescued animals that call the sanctuary home.

Cartoonist Dan Piraro attended the launch party for Alicia Silverstone‘s book, The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet at Candle 79 vegan restaurant in New York City.

Dan is the founder of Bizarro.com, a website containing his cartoons that often depict vegetarian/vegan/animal rights issues.

Was Dan the only vegan special enough that night to get a pic taken with Alicia?

Alicia Silverstone launched a release party for her book, The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet.

The event was held at Candle 79, a prestigious vegan restaurant in New York City.

Other celebrities that attended the event include Robin Quivers, Lake Bell, Giada De Laurentiis, Dan Hedaya and Dan Piraro.

The Kind Diet is set for release October 13.

Awhile back, Moby wondered if zombies would eat vegans, after one was captured escaping a car.

Now, we know the answer, thanks to cartoonist Dan Piraro.

Zombies are vegans.

Dan tweeted this lovely little Haiku poem that explains zombies go for the grains.

The vegan zombie

Cares not for sweet grey matter

They cry out for “grains.”"
