Max Lugavere founded Rockdrive, a Los Angeles night of music and entertainment designed to raised awareness and money for good causes, two years ago as a way to combine his passion for music and changing the world.

Lugavere, the co-host of Current TV’s “Unseen,” is using Rockdrive on December 11th, 2010 to promote education, but hints in future years animal rights and animal welfare might be on receiving end of the music fest.

From The Laist:

“Education is one of those things that you can’t understate how important it is. I’m also really passionate about animal rights and in the future we might benefit that but this year we’re focusing on these two charities.”

Bob Barker‘s message to spay and neuter pets will surely live on forever…or until at least 2060.

The former Price Is Right host took part in a ceremony that buried items related to the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Barker included a letter in the capsule that reminds people to help reduce the unwanted cat and dog population.

“It’s signed Bob Barker, October 28th, 2010, and the note says, ‘Have your pets spayed or neutered,” said the vegetarian and animal rights activist.

Meatless Mouthful–Bob Harper Inspired By A Skinny Bitch

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, October 28th, 2010 in Food & Drink, Meatless Mouthful, TV Hosts.

“I was at a friend’s house and it was right when Skinny Bitch came out. And she was like, “You need to read this book.” The title totally threw me off; I said, “I’m not reading some book that’s called Skinny Bitch.” But I took it with me on vacation and I was really interested and blown away by it at the same time.”

Bob Harper, in an interview with VegNews in the magazine’s November/December 2010 issue, on how he first became interested in going vegetarian. Never judge a book by its cover. Or name. For men like Harper who are a little taken aback by Skinny Bitch, the sisters in sassiness, Freedman and Barnouin, have conveniently written the male counterpart to Bitch, Skinny Bastard. And let’s not forget John Joseph will make men feel like little girls if they continue to eat meat after reading, Meat Is For Pussies.

Saving our men. One title at a time.

You know exactly who you are.

You never went vegetarian or vegan because you hated the taste of meat. The smell of Thanksgiving turkey still makes you salivate and walking past the steakhouse gives you fantasies that make you feel a bit naughty.

However, there’s no reason to feel guilty about a craving you never give into. And because you know there’s such an abundance of fake meat out there, you never will.

Ellen DeGeneres is the spokesperson for Farm Sanctuary’s Adopt-A-Turkey event, which raises money for rescued turkeys at the sanctuary.

Michaels discovered the beverage while looking for non-dairy, milk alternatives in the grocery store and was impressed by the drink’s nutritional benefits, as well as the company’s ethics.

“I read the label, I scrutinized it from top to bottom and I compared it to every single thing on the shelf from dairy to non-dairy products. What I particularly loved were all the health benefits. No pesticides. The coconuts are no genetically modified in any way. In addition, there’s Vitamin D, there’s calcium, there’s medium chain fatty acids, which are great for your heart health, its low in calories…”

Alexis Stewart, the vegetarian daughter of household diva Martha, and her co-host Jennifer Koppelman Hutt, recently welcomed Kathy Freston, author of several books on wellness and the same woman who convinced Oprah Winfrey to go vegan for a few weeks.

As expected, Freston was there to enlighten the Whatever ladies’ audience on what a vegan diet is and how following a plant-based diet can eliminate many health issues.

Freston’s transition to veganism didn’t happen overnight. As a girl who “grew up in the South eating chicken fried steak,” she found it easier to go vegetarian first, giving up her old standbys of chicken and steak.

“I gave up eating one animal at a time,” Freston said.

Sounds like a plan. Can you start giving up one animal next month by eating a vegetarian Thanksgiving dinner instead of a bird?
