Quantcast Vegetarian StarEmily Deschanel Endorses World Go Vegan Week

Bones’ actress Emily Deschanel has announced her support for In Defense of Animal’s campaign World Go Vegan Week.

“The 5th annual World Go Vegan Week is taking place this year from October 24th through 31st. This week is a celebration of compassion and a time to take action for animals, the environment and everyone’s well-being. A plant-based diet not only improves your health, it significantly reduces your carbon footprint and preserves resources for future generations. So please join me in creating a healthy future and go vegan for World Go Vegan Week.”

World Go Vegan Week is meant to celebrate and encourage of life that’s less harmful to human health, the animals’ health and the environment. There are numerous ways to celebrate the week, some of which are posted on the event’s website.

One way is to ask your local natural foods store to offer vegan samples during the week. In some grocery stores on Saturday mornings, there is such a variety of goodies available, you could practically skip breakfast and feast on freebies! Similarly, vegan faux sausages and biscuits spread with dairy-free butter, seitan cutlets with quinoa salad and vegan cheesecake could give customers a taste of what every meal would be like without animal products.

Encouraging a vegan Thanksgiving, which takes place only weeks after World Go Vegan Week, hosting vegan food events at your home like potlucks, pie baking contests or Halloween parties and taking friends and family to farm sanctuaries are also good ways to introduce others to the lifestyle.
