“It’s so cool – yoga peeps, Christians, rabbis, all working together to feed the needy healthy organic, plant-based meals. The elderly woman I was feeding in the photo was 93. She was trapped on the 17th floor of her building for 5 days, no power or water, eating only peanuts. She loved that there was NO meat in the donated meals.”

John Joseph Turned Off By GMOs And CODEX

John Joseph has shared he’s no fan of GMOs.

Now, in an interview with Washington Times, the Meat is For Pussies author has a lot more to say about genetically modified foods and the Code.

The Code is not lingo for how you should be eating, but CODEX, which stands for Codex Alimentarius, a collection of standards recognized by the World Trade Organization on how food should be labeled, prepared and handled for safety reasons.

As of now, CODEX is not required, but many countries have adopted its recommendations, such as the irradiation of produce to kill e. coli, salmonella and other pathogens. Yes, it’s a potentially illness and even life saving procedure, but at what cost for future health?

Currently, foods that have been irradiated must be labeled in the United States. Here are a few of Joseph’s thoughts on food safety.

On GMOs:
“First off there just haven’t been enough studies conducted on the long term safety of the foods on the public because really it hasn’t been around all that long. What if all the crops failed after a certain amount of years?- what if after 3 generations of eating mostly GM foods we start to see irreversible problems?- these are things we just don’t know. We’re already seeing issues with GM crop failures. Also other GMO companies have come out and said that their aim is to control the food system from seed to table. I just think monopolies are never good and it’s just scary to think about anyone having a monopoly over seeds.”

"Meat is for Pussies" John Joseph

John Joseph, author of the famous or notorious, depending on who you speak with, book about vegan diets, “Meat Is For Pussies,” has an exclusive interview at Ecorazzi.

For those that are still offended by the title, Joseph doesn’t care. And watch out. His fan base consists of both angels and inmates who agree the message is right on target.

“Get a sense of humor! Lighten up! The book is reaching everyone from Hells Angels to convicts in maximum security prisons to New York City cops — people they’d never reach. I really don’t give a shit about the people who are offended; they attacked Rory Freedman, too. But her Skinny Bitch books made millions of vegans and saved countless animals. I’ve been doing this for 30 years; the Cro-Mags have inspired tens of thousands of people to give up meat. I will never change who I am. As they say in India, “The dogs may bark, but the caravan must go on.””

More non-pussy talk about protein needs, organic vs. GMO foods and more at Ecorazzi.

“Meat Is For Pussies”–Why John Joseph Chose The “P” Word

So much discussion has been generated by John Joseph‘s latest book, Meat Is For Pussies, on his choice of words for the title, especially in the form of some females taking offense.

Not looking to offend at all, perhaps Joseph’s message would have been clearer if he used the term “pussy-dependent,” (note: new category to be added to the DSM in the future)

Joseph said to Punk News, “The title might suggest that I am being judgmental, but what the title is really saying is that if you continue to live the lifestyle that most Americans are living, then that lifestyle will turn you into a pussy dependent on prescription drug companies. Pharmaceutical companies and food companies look at you as revenue from when you live to when you die. They want you to get sick. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

Joseph is also working on a cookbook for later release. Might we suggest the title, “Cooking Meat is for the Pussy Whipped?”

Meat Is For Pussies by punk rocker John Joseph has already gained the attention of several notables in the vegetarian community. Serving as no-nonsense advice for getting healthy and removing the junk from your body, Joseph’s book emphasizes that the only wimpy men out there are the ones still grabbing a double-double for dinner. Here’s what others have to say:

Rory Freedman, co-author of Skinny Bitch:
“Meat is for Pussies will completely transform your mind, body, and life. It’ll also score you major ass with hot vegan chicks.”

Moby:
“I’m really glad that John Joseph is finally showing that vegans are some of the strongest, healthiest, and toughest people on the planet. I mean, everyone wants to be thin and healthy and live long lives, but people still eat meat? That’s insane.”

John Joseph, punk rocker and author of Evolution of a Cro Magnon and his latest book, Meat is for Pussies, recently sat down for a video interview on physical and spiritual health, food and his book set for release this month.

Diet may go a long way towards your spiritual health, and Joseph insists that if you’re still consuming cheeseburgers to reward yourself after a yoga workout, you might succeed in the arm balance but you’ll never achieve real peace.

“You see people going to raw foods restaurants with leather jackets and fur and all kinds of crap. It becomes another form of vanity. If you’re doing yoga and you’re doing all this stuff and you’re going and eating meat, it’s like trying to light a fire but you’re throwing water on it. You’re never going to progress in your spiritual practice when you’re consuming animals that have been tortured and butchered. It’s just not possible.”

If a man had been given the opportunity to write Skinny Bastard, the male component to the best selling vegan diet book by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin, Skinny Bitch,  John Joseph would have been the ideal candidate.

His latest book due out May 15, Meat Is For Pussies, appropriately titled as the guide for how to “get fit, kick ass and take names” is meant to shatter the myth that going meatless takes away the manly in anyone with a Y chromosome.

The Dish is Vegetarian has an exclusive excerpt from the book that tells men they can either “continue living like a pussy” or take charge of their health.
