Contestants from the new NBC show Im a celebrity get me out of here give an interview about the upcoming show

“I wanted to smack John for talking trash to the other cast members during the challenge. Just because he is a vegetarian doesn’t mean he can call people names that aren’t. Everyone was aware of what they were eating. They did not need him reminding them every ten seconds, and saying how disgusting it is.”

—-Gina, writer for Realitywanted.com, on John Salley’s attitude about the food on a I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here challenge. Salley has had his share of comments bleeped out from television. But when you’re looking at your options of cow tongue or bull testicles, it’s hard to keep your opinion to yourself.

“Our objective is to sink the Japanese whaling fleet economically, and for the last three years we’ve cost them their profits. 305 whales saved this year, 500 last year, 500 the year before, and we’re gonna keep this up. As long as we’re persistent — we don’t retreat — I think we can bankrupt them. That’s our objective. ”

—-Captain Paul Watson, star of the Animal Planet series Whale Wars, which tries to stop Japanese whalers from killing whales in the Southern Ocean. Watson and the crew recently did an interview on Larry King Live, where he revealed his ultimate goal of destruction-the whalers’ wallets!

“Children have a natural empathy with animals. They carry around a teddy bear and are taught to love animals. All those fairy tales have animals in them. Then kids are taught to accept their exploitation and death. I do think people try to do the best they can, but they get hit by mixed messages from every direction. They get confused and need to learn.”

—-Singer and songwriter Nellie McKay, in an interview with popmatters.com

Talk about mixed messages…Kids grow up with cats and dogs as pets and cows and chickens as food. No wonder the adolescents of today are so angst ridden!

“With more emissions, comes more responsiblity.”
—-Gerald Goode, The Goode Family father, telling Ubuntu about the responsibility of driving a car, which is creating a bigger carbon footprint. We’re sure this conversation was preceded by the talk on alcohol and driving and speeding.

The quote about driving was one of our favorite moments along with grandpa Goode saying Ubuntu deserved steak and strippers versus the vegan dinner prepared for him. Grandpa, how could you say that in front your grandson? There are terrible consequences to children who are exposed to the adult life of steak too soon.

What did you guys think of the Goodes? Funny? Frickin’ ridiculously offensive? A little bit in between?

Kathy Freston Celebrates Her New Book Quantum Wellness

“The single best thing you can do for optimal health is to cut way back on animal protein…until you can cut it out completely. Animal protein causes inflammation, among other things; it’s been conclusively shown to cause (and fan the flames of) cancer and heart disease. It burdens your body all around, insofar as circulation, hormonal imbalance, allergies, asthma, etc. But beyond that, optimal health includes a sense of inner wellbeing too. And I think it’s hard to feel really good, to have a sense that you are in synch with the upward thrust of evolution, if you are partaking in something that has become so cruel and unjust. When you eat in a pure way, that is kind and compassionate, an inner transformation happens that is more energizing than any vitamin or exercise regimen could ever be.”

—Author Kathy Freston, in an exclusive interview with Ecorazzi.com. Kathy is the woman who convinced Oprah Winfrey to go vegan for three weeks and is the author of several books, including her latest, The Quantum Wellness Cleanse.

“There are so many great sources of healthy veggie protein, like tofu (not fried), beans, and lentils, that can be seasoned and mixed with vegetables to create savory and filling dishes that would appeal to anyone, vegetarian or not. Kirstie Alley’s vegetarian diet downfall (besides all that butter) was that she lacked balance — enjoy vegetarian enchiladas and bread, but make sure that’s not all you’re eating.”
