John Cleese Meets Colin The Lemur At Bristol Zoo

Some of you were disappointed in our Barbie Orr/Kristine Reinhard posts. We got responses anywhere from “Who cares?” to “Take that crap down!”

But where would a celebrity blog be without posting something off color every now and then? And folks, there is a true vegetarian theme here!

Vegetarian John Cleese broke up with vegan Barbie by leaving a message on her answering machine after she blabbed all their intimate (or shall we say his intimate) details to the media.

A response to which she replied in a text message, “Look, at least it wasn’t a sex tape.”

Everyone went after Barbie (including us) after her true age was revealed to be 45 and not 27. Now Barbie is fighting back and telling people to give it a rest.

“I am a good, caring person, who does work for charity and looks after animals,” she told the UK Mirror. “I do not deserve this!”

You can view pictures of her own animals on her website.

The mob attacked Barbie for several reasons, including faulting her for exposing John’s personal life and lying about her age. However, we’d like to know why she felt she had to lie about her age to begin with.

If you look at her photos, you’ll see she’s quite an attractive woman, who’s lean, radiant, and healthy looking. Personally, we’d love to see Barbie capitalize on this and start talking more about how her vegan lifestyle keeps her looking great at 45. If she really wants publicity, she should pose for the famous organization that only works with women when they’re naked-PETA.

That’s right. Take it off, Barbie! Woohoo…Okay, back to seriousness.

Really Barbie, start talking about the vegan package and all of its health and beauty benefits just as much as you talked about John’s package.

Okay, enough of this. No more Barbie. Unless she decides to talk to us, of course. It’s time to start ragging on Skipper.

Melissa Etheridge Is Vegetarian Domestic Diva On Martha Stewart

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, February 1st, 2009 in Female Musicians, Female Singers, Videos.

Stand Up To Cancer

Melissa Etheridge dropped by Martha Stewart’s studio not long ago for an episode on the holidays.

Before she appeared, Etheridge spoke to Hudson Valley Inside Out about what she might be doing on Stewart’s show.

Given that you’re a vegetarian, what I’d like to know is if you’ll teach Martha Stewart how to make something like vegan mashed potatoes—because she’ll probably be trying to stuff a goose.

Etheridge: [Laughter] I think we’re going to do something crafty. You know that I am such a crafty girl.

We’re sure Martha knows how to make some mashed potatoes without the gravy, given the fact she needed to cook for her vegetarian daughter, Alexis.

Melissa, who is also a cancer survivor, did do something crafty-a bird’s nest planter.

Watch the video of Etheridge on Martha and maybe you too can become a vegetarian domestic diva.

Stephen Colbert is proving he’s not of fan of vegetarianism. Not long ago, we brought you the video of him making fun of PETA’s new Sea Kitten Campaign, when he renamed animals to sound more vegetarian friendly like calling owls “sky nachos.”

Recently, he had Sir Paul McCartney on his show where he questioned the ex Beatle’s vegetarian diet.

“I have a beef to pick with you, sir, in that you don’t eat beef,” Colbert said. McCartney goes into detail about him feeling animals are sentient beings that deserve to live and not be eaten by humans and that the Dalai Lama agrees with him. The ever so sarcastic Colbert asks, “Don’t you think if the animals had the opportunity, they would eat us?”

Colbert’s starting to sound like Karl Lagerfeld.

McCartney replied with, “In an emergency, perhaps the Dalai Lama would eat me.”

Watch and listen to Paul say his midriff is the best part to eat during an emergency.

Television news journalist Jane Velez-Mitchell invited Native Foods Chef Tanya Petrovna over to her place for an awesome veg dinner and the whole event was filmed by SupremeMasterTV.

Jane has featured animal issues on her television segments such as Issues With Jane Velez Mitchell on CNN or Celebrity Justice and is also a vegan.

Jane and Tanya start off the cooking demonstration by discussing the differences between silken and Chinese style tofu. Then, it’s over to the stove top. To borrow a Rachael Ray phrase, using a little EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) in the pan, Jane brings to attention that it’s organic.

The ladies immediately break out into the Don’t Panic, It’s Organic slogan.

Jane takes the time to educate how meat production is the #1 cause of global warming. Take a look and get some ideas for dinner this weekend.

Kim Kardashian Gives Up Fur, Keeps Reggie Bush Lovin’

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, January 30th, 2009 in Fur, Reality TV.

2009 Moves Magazine Super Bowl Party

If you’ve got a good man, then you’d better bend over backwards to keep him. Especially if you’re in female shark Hollywood and Kim Kardashian learned this lesson real quick.

She’s become the latest celebrity to announce she’s shunning fur, according to Contact Music. Why? If you recall us telling you, her sister Khloe has done the same, posing naked in an anti-fur ad for PETA. It’s important to keep up with the Kardashians, you know.

An even bigger reason is that her boyfriend, New Orlean’s Saints running back Reggie Bush, threatened to dump her if she didn’t. Apparently the two were driving past an anti-fur rally at the Sundance Film Festival when they were bombarded by activists, screaming, “She’s in here!”

Bush said, “This is humiliating. I can’t go out with you.”

So Kim ditched the fur vest and kept her man.

Kim keeps gettin’ lovin’. Less animals are dying. You couldn’t ask for a happier ending.

PETA sure knows how to fire up your senses when it comes to women and even though hot peppers aren’t needed, it never hurts to toss them into the picture.

The latest spicy ad promoting vegetarianism is one that has made a comeback specifically for PETA Asia Pacific.

Maggie Q, actress and former fashion model, is inviting you to “Spice Up Your Life,” (in what appears to be Chinese writing).

“Going vegetarian is one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made. I feel better, I have more energy on and off the set, and I have the satisfaction of knowing that I’m doing something to help stop animal suffering.”

Going vegetarian could possibly be the most rewarding decision you’ll ever make and coming in a close second would be putting this as a wallpaper background on your computer.

Prince Fielder’s Veggie Recipe Recommendations

MLB: Phillies vs Brewers OCT 5

When Milwaukee Brewers Prince Fielder went vegetarian last year, the media swarmed him with interview questions about his diet so much, he jokingly told Yahoo Sports, theirs was the last veggie related interview he was doing.

Luckily he agreed, so after finding some old food voyeurism for you, we thought you’d might like to listen to his opinions on a few recipes. What do you think? Could food critic be in the future after retirement from a professional sports career?

He gave input on dishes like Pesto Pasta Toss, Tandoori Paneer Tikka, and Egyptian Koshari. Here’s what he thought of Roasted Ratatouille with Basil Aioli:

“I’ve seen the movie, but I’ve never ate it. I’ve always wondered what it was. I’d probably try it, although I’m not sure about the eggplant … I don’t like eggplant, it gets to me. I like the taste, but then I get like that saliva throw-up aftertaste in my mouth, you know what I’m talking about? Eggplant is good for you though, so I’ll put that as a maybe. It depends how I’m feeling.”

Grab the recipes and read what Prince thinks of other dishes.
