Georges Laraque “Octane 7.0” Ad Helps Animals (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, October 15th, 2009 in Animal Issues, Athletes-Games-Sports, Videos.

Georges Laraque drew criticism from women’s groups after he appeared in an Octane 7.0 energy drink with alcohol ad featuring the Montreal Canadienes vegan star playing hockey with scantily clad women.

What’s worse, the NHL discourages players from openly endorsing alcoholic beverages.

However, Laraque has apologized and vows to work with women’s charities in the future.

Plus, Laraque always donates profits from promos he does to charities, with the Octane 7.0 money going to animal rights.

Scantily clad women and animal rights?

Well, Georges is a PETA supporter, so what did you expect?

Jason Scwartzman attends Fantastic Mr. Fox premiere in London

Jason Schwartzman considers himself an environmentalist, but insists he’s still in awe of Ted Danson‘s eco magic.

“I have solar panels on my house for my pool and I’m a very adamant recycler. I have a Prius. I’ve been a vegetarian for a long time. But I’m not Ted,” Jason told mnn.com about his Bored To Death co-star.

Jason took lessons from Ted about ocean conservation.

“Every little bit helps,” he added.

Jason should give himself more credit just for following the veg life.

According to a UN report, it takes 8,449 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef versus 60 gallons of water required to produce a pound of potatoes, or 108 or 168 gallons of water needed to produce a pound of wheat or corn.

Jason’s helping to save the planet every time he opens his mouth to take a bite!

Alicia Silverstone joined the ladies of The View to discuss her newly released vegan diet and lifestyle book, The Kind Diet.

Silverstone was looking hot as ever and the pictures of the food that flashed on the screen behind them were mouthwatering.

Joy Behar got some laughs when she asked Silverstone “What’s your idea of a “mean” diet?”

“I do cover that in the book,” Silverstone says, which she describes as “the nasty foods” like processed sugar, meat and dairy.

Tonight’s episode of Project Runway titled “Sequins, Feathers and Fur, Oh My!” seems puzzling, as it conveys that the catwalk will be covered in bird and animal-wear.

But wait.

Anyone who follows fashion king Tim Gunn knows he not down with fur by any means, as designers are not permitted to use it in their fashions.

And a recent episode had one divorcee request a completely animal-free piece of fashion created by recycling her old wedding dress.

Will this be an opportunity for the contestants to shine faux style?

Tune in tonight at 10PM et/pt on Lifetime to find out!
