Figure skater Johnny Weir has launched into the fashion world by serving as a guest designer at Adrienne Landau’s Fall 2011 show at New York Fashion Week.

The pieces included unisex items featuring fox, rabbit, mink and chinchilla fur.

If it sounds like Weir worships real animal fur, that assumption is right on track. Weir told Stylist he doesn’t believe in fake fur.

We may be posting Ke$ha‘s Holiday Greetings a day later, but the message she’s wearing is timeless.

It’s cold outside and symbol girl is looking kind of furry, but don’t fret. The vegetarian singer has said before she always fakes it for the camera.

“If you see me in fur, it’s always fake,” Kesha said.

While we’re not worried about Kesha’s fur coat, we are, however, concerned for the person in the background exposing his bare buns to relieve himself in the snow. After all, it’s freezing outside. The wind must be unbearable. Even worse, he’s wearing a fur coat but has not publicly declared himself real fur-free.

Singer Eve gave an interview where she ranted on animal right activists who criticize fur wearers. “Don’t force your opinion upon me. I like fur. And there are a lot of beautiful furs. And I’m gonna rock my fur and you better not throw nothing on me,” Eve said. She then exclaimed, “I wouldn’t wear my dog!”

Ha! We’d love to be the ones who Blow Her Mind. Eve doesn’t even realize that dog fur has been marketed as “other” and incorporated as clothing that’s been sold in the U.S. Even worse, faux fur wearers have been tricked into thinking they were wearing compassion, when they too were wearing dog fur. If you choose to don the fake look, but don’t want to be duped like Eve,  here are some tips to determine if the retail brand you’re wearing hasn’t told a faux about the nature of the fur. During a signing to promote her book, “Rihanna,” at the Fifth Avenue Barnes and Noble in New York City, a fan of singer Rihanna asked if she would consider going fur-free.

“I will,” Rihanna replied, which can be seen in a video here.

Does she sound serious?

Besides millions of animals being killed for fashion each year, some in the most brutal form like being skinned alive, despite what some advocates of the fur industry may tell you, fur never has and ain’t never goin’ be green!

Most fur comes from animals raised on factory farms, which create wastes that make their way into nearby rivers and streams.

Ammonia, another by-product of animal waste from factory farms, is also released, causing air pollution.

Brooke Shields is not making the list of favorite models this week or this year for that matter. It’s bad enough she became a meat eater again after 16 years of being vegetarian, but now she’s getting excited about designing her own custom made fur coat. Earlier this month, she visited Kopenhagen Studio, a creative fur workshop in Kopenhagen to pick the mink hide of her choice.

“Wearing fur may be associated with something grandmotherish. Something you wear when you visit the opera, or if you are a rock star and wears it inside out. But I will advocate that both my generation and the younger generation can wear fur.”

Kelis sounds off on her PETA feud about that famous fur hat in this MTV video.

She says she thinks it was strange she got a letter from them, considering she’s worn “way more” fur than what she was wearing when the controversy ignited.

Kelis justifies her fashion choice with the fact the weather was “freezing” and she loves the hat.

Right.

Perfectly good excuses to buy something killed for the sake of vanity purposes.

Avoid the Kelis fur pas and opt for a faux fur hat instead.

Kate Ford PETA

Kate Ford, star of Coronation Street, has posed nude in a PETA campaign to convince officials to use fake fur instead of real bear fur in the hats worn by the Queen’s guards.

“I would ask the Ministry of Defence to reconsider their choice to use real bear fur for the Guards’ caps,” Ford told PETA UK in an interview. “The use of the real fur is uncalled for, as the fake fur is luxurious and looks the same. For this reason, there is no need for bears to go through unimaginable suffering. I ask them to reconsider and choose the compassionate option.

Ford was named “Best Bitch” in British soap opera awards in 2004 and 2005 for her character’s disposition, but luckily for the bears and everyone else, she’s quite empathetic in real life, sharing her home with two elderly cats.

Green Day "American Idiot" Musical

Who ever thought Billie Joe Armstrong would make it to Broadway?

The American Idiot musical portrays young adults trying to find their way through the world: one leaves to fight for his country, another escapes to the city, and another gets stuck in suburbia.

Seen here is a video of the cast singing Green Day’s “21 Guns.”

Sure hope that leopard attire on one cast member is fake, because only an American Idiot would still be wearing real fur.
