So take that, Sea Kitten disser!

Race car driver Leilani Munter got the pleasure of rubbing a personal victory in Stephen Colbert’s face.

After climbing to the top of a wind turbine at Horse Hollow Wind Energy Center in Abileen, Texas, Leilani autographed one of the blades. The owner of the tower, NextEra Energy Resources, nicknamed it “Leilani.”

NextEra Energy Resources owns about 6,290 megawatts (MW) of wind farm assets in the USA, and accounted for roughly 25 percent of the total wind power installed in the country during 2008, according to the International Business Times.

“I had to call Stephen out because it seems like every time I watch “The Colbert Report,” he’s having something named after him,” Leilaini told emagazine.com. “I was like—ha!—I beat him to one thing. He may have all the animals on the earth named for him, but he doesn’t have a wind turbine”

Leilani is an outspoken environmentalist who has described herself as a “vegetarian hippie chick.”

Hope Mark Malkoff Packed Lots Of Vegan Protein Bars On AirTran

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009 in Comedians.

markmalkoff

Comedian and writer Mark Malkoff plans to stay on a plane and fly continuously for 30 days to break the Guinness Book of World Records and conquer his fear of flying.

His goal is not to leave the AirTran plane, so he’ll have to stock up on a month’s worth of meatless goodies, since he’s vegetarian, which ajc.com cited as being one of the potential challenges on his trip.

Malkoff is a writer for Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report. Is he the reason why Stephen Colbert has poked fun of vegetarians in the past? Yeah, probably.

His previous outrageous stunts include attempting to visit all 171 Starbucks stores in Manhattan in 24 hours.

Good thing Mark’s a vegetarian to offset all those emissions, because he sure is making a big carbon footprint with 30 days of flying.

Mark’s blog and videos of the event can be viewed at markonairtran.com.

Stephen Colbert Gives Attention To Schmeat: It’s Test Tube Meat!

Stephen Colbert recently did a show featuring test tube meat, or as some would call it, Schmeat.

PETA’s President and Co-Founder Ingrid Newkirk has a couple of cameos.

PETA is currently offering $1 million dollars to the first team of scientists that can develop a method to produce viable, commercially available, lab-grown chicken meat by 2010.

Colbert also features Dr.Vladimir Mironov, a scientist who claims to have the knowledge and technology to produce test tube, or in vitro meat.

“Schmeat,” as Dr. Mironov calls it, is a “combinatinon of sh*t and meat.” But isn’t that what regular meat is already composed of?

Of course, Colbert is full of his usual sarcasm, especially considering he’s such a big fan science.

He love astrology, claiming it’s extremely helpful when hiring employees because, as of now, it’s still legal to discriminate against Virgos.

Mark Bittman Explains Why Food Matters To Stephen Colbert

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 in Authors, Videos.

The self-proclaimed “lessmeatarian” food writer Mark Bittman recently appeared on the Stephen Colbert show to discuss his latest book, Food Matters: A Guide To Conscious Eating.

Although Bittman is not a complete vegetarian, he has drastically cut back on meat in the past years and is advocating more people do the same, for the sake of their health and the planet’s.

Taking a cue from Bittman’s book title, Colbert’s ever so sarcastic persona jumps in immediately and he mentions that he likes to eat food that was once conscious. Hahaaaa, Colbert.

Bittman says he is a vegan until 6pm, and thinks everyone should think harder about the portions of meat and processed foods they’re eating, versus the amounts of plant based foods they should be eating.

Vocab lesson from Colbert: Industrialized Livestock=robot cow (factory raised meat).

If you like watching the “Extras” portion on DVDs you should take a look at these outtakes from Stephen Colbert’s Paul McCartney interview.

“Here’s my problem with vegetarianism,” says Colbert. “You can’t hunt vegetables. You cannot stalk a stalk of broccoli. You can’t fire off a shotgun into a field of asparagus.”

Paul suggests another type of “hunt” that takes place in your supermarket after spotting the vegetable of your choice.

“You don’t have to fire…lasso them…Broccoli, you’re mine…Straight to the checkout counter.”

Watch the video for laughs from scenes that didn’t, but should have, made the cut.

Stephen Colbert is proving he’s not of fan of vegetarianism. Not long ago, we brought you the video of him making fun of PETA’s new Sea Kitten Campaign, when he renamed animals to sound more vegetarian friendly like calling owls “sky nachos.”

Recently, he had Sir Paul McCartney on his show where he questioned the ex Beatle’s vegetarian diet.

“I have a beef to pick with you, sir, in that you don’t eat beef,” Colbert said. McCartney goes into detail about him feeling animals are sentient beings that deserve to live and not be eaten by humans and that the Dalai Lama agrees with him. The ever so sarcastic Colbert asks, “Don’t you think if the animals had the opportunity, they would eat us?”

Colbert’s starting to sound like Karl Lagerfeld.

McCartney replied with, “In an emergency, perhaps the Dalai Lama would eat me.”

Watch and listen to Paul say his midriff is the best part to eat during an emergency.

Stephen Colbert Pokes Fun Of PETA’s Sea Kittens Campaign

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, January 18th, 2009 in Actors, Comedians, Not So Vegetarian, TV Hosts, Videos.

Stephen Colbert thought it would be fun to satirized PETA’s Save The Sea Kittens Campaign, and gave a “Tip of the Hat” piece of advice to the animal rights group.

“Save The Sea Kittens” is designed to get people to stop eating seafood by making fish seem as cute, adorable, and intelligent as cats.

Colbert admits that normally he’s not a fan of PETA because if “scientists can’t squirt shampoo into a rabbit’s eyes, then how would I know what shampoo to squirt into my rabbit’s eyes,” he sarcastically said.

Stephen decides to rename other animals with vegetarian names so that they’ll seem more acceptable to eat, including calling cats “landfish,” cows “field potatoes,” and owls “sky nachos.”

The “Tip of the Hat” starts after a minute and a half into the video.

Safe to say he’s not buying into the campaign. Bet Jeremy Piven is, though.
