Vincent Kartheiser

“Mad Men” actor Vincent Kartheiser is a model in living green in the strictest sense. When he needs to use the restroom, he must rely on the neighbor’s toilet because he doesn’t own one. He’s also a vegetarian, avoids driving and does not plan to have children. Is he a “mad man” for doing all these things?

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Kartheiser explained his car flooded, and while waiting for insurance to take care of issues, he started to take the bus and train.

“I found that it enriched my life. It actually made my life better to slow down a little bit and walk through the city and interact with people that I usually kind of speed by on the freeway.”

As for the bathroom issue, he says he eventually will get a toilet.

“My house is just a wooden box. I mean I am planning to get a toilet at some point. But for now I have to go to the neighbours. I threw it all out.”

Vincent will probably be investigating eco-friendly toilets, such as tankless systems or those that adjust the level of water with the volume of material being flushed down.

Kudos to the neighbors for letting him use theirs. Who would be willing to let this happen when your fellow vegetarian who just finished a bowl of beans, lentils and other fibrous material comes over with the “urgent” need to use your tank?

“The Cleveland Show” Does A Veggie Barbecue Wrong (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, November 17th, 2010 in Film & TV, Food & Drink, Videos.

The Cleveland Show chose to make fun of vegans during an episode where Cleveland and some friends have a backyard barbecue. The character who Seth McFarlane created a spin-off episode from “Family Guy” from encounters a stereotypical new-age, hippie vegan offering grilled fake meat.

“Alright, not-dogs and sham-burgers are ready,” the man announces while handing Cleveland a sandwich. “Hey, bro, you want some fakon on that?”

Cleveland slams the man’s hand on the grill and says, “Smell that? That’s meat burning” and gets the vegan to say “That smells so good.”

Although Thanksgiving and winter time aren’t usually the times for barbecue, if you’re planning to throw one or attend one for mixed eaters, it can successfully be done without anyone suffering from 1st degree burns.

First, you can check out some suggested grilled vegetables and salad recipes from Laist.

When Olivia Munn was having trouble with a “bitch,” she sought the advice of none other than dog expert Cesar Millan.

It wasn’t that Munn was in need of purchasing dog training classes or lessons in become the leader of the pack, she was just irate at the female animal activist sitting next to her who just wants to get rid of puppy mills.

Milan quickly gives Munn a lesson in behavior and viewers a lesson on how they should view puppy mills if they love dogs.

“Puppy Mills reflect the wrong way in America,” Millan begins. “If America is going to call itself a dog lover country, we must treat dogs humanely.”

DoSomething.org lists 11 facts about puppy mills. Most Americans would agree that housing dogs in crowded and unsantitary conditions that pave the way for illness and infection is no humane way to treat a dog. According to Do Something, “The average puppy mill has between 65 and 75 animals housed in hutch-style cages with wire floors. The waste drops to the ground below and accumulates beneath the cage where flies and other gross things fester.”

Russell Brand Won’t Keep Tiger In Apartment With Him And Katy (Video)

Russell Brand

Russell Brand is addressing the rumor that he bought Katy Perry a tiger for their wedding, emphasizing not only is it against his ethics as a vegetarian, but it’s just plain dumb and dangerous!

“I’m a vegetarian, you don’t give people tigers, it’s stupid, it’s dangerous, and the tigers don’t like it,” Brand said.

Yes, having wild animals as pets leads to nothing but tragedy, as we’ve seen with Travis the Chimp and other stories, like the man in Harlem, New York, who kept an 8 foot long, 400-pound tiger in his apartment.

Police were tipped off when a neighbor complained of urine seeping through the floor into an adjacent apartment after kitty refused to use the little box on more than one occasion. The tiger was transferred to a sanctuary that won’t offer him a high-rise view of the city, but a more natural, safer place for him and humans.

How food gets from the farm to your plate is becoming an increasingly popular topic, given the fact most conscious eaters want to know what they eat was grown under environmentally friendly conditions for the planet and farm workers and had minimum impact, if any, on animals.

The farm is also where many food education programs take children as part of an initiative to get them to eat better once they’ve become acquainted with how produce is grown and harvested.

Skinny Bitch author Rory Freedman and Jenny and Heather Goldberg of Spork Foods, a company that offers organic, vegan cooking classes in the LA area, visited a farm to learn the ins and outs of produce growing.

In between chit chatting with the “meat-eating farmer,” Freedman discusses vegan issues, such as cruelty to male chicks in the egg industry and what motivated her to give up animal products as well as environmental changes that have affected the nutrition and safety of our food.
