“The Goode Family” Returns To Comedy Central

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 in Film & TV, Pop Culture.

Che the vegan dog will once again get to cheat on his diet by eating the stray neighborhood pets.

The Goode Family has returned to television, this time on Comedy Central instead of ABC.

What killed the recycling, veg eating, tree hugging, liberal family?

Big balls, according to Joe Hipps, vice president of TV production at Media Rights Capital.

“Its lead-in was ‘Wipeout,’ a game show with big red balls throwing people into the water,” Hipps said. “And then you’re going into a talky animated show? It never had a chance.”

Much like those poor alley cats never stood a chance when Che got a craving for something other than textured soy dog biscuits.

Wait. Stop joking about that. It’s only a little bit funny.

Now that The Goode Family is on the same cable television station home to the bad boys of  South Park, the family might have the opportunity to get a little dirtier–and that doesn’t mean tending to the organic vegetables in the backyard.

“Even though they were very professional about it, the censorship standards on ABC are very tight,” said John Altschuler, one of executive producers of the show, who said the team received a few dings, what some would call censorship. “You can do an awful lot about sex, but not about political thought. You can’t deal with race at all.”

Looking forward to seeing The Goode Family biking through town at 10PM Mondays on Comedy Central, opening their mouths and offending nearly everyone while reminding them to compost.

The Sims 3 allows players to create vegetarian Sims

PETA has awarded The Sims 3 by Electronic Art a Proggy Award for being the Most Animal Friendly Game of 2009.

The Proggy Award is short for “progress,” and is intended for PETA to recognize companies that display animal friendly themes in their products.

According to PETA, The Sims 3 can feature Sims who not only eat vegetarian, but become ill if served vegetarian food.

Wonder if these Sims can force their meat eating virtual friends to have a Quorn patty here and there?

“Rumor has it that game testers have reported that vegetarian Sims live longer and age more slowly than meat-eating Sims,” PETA continued. “Of course, that would jibe with studies showing that real-life vegans and vegetarians are less prone to obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and other life-threatening conditions.”

Do these Sims get better premiums on their health care coverage?

If not, it’s time to make changes for The Sims 4!

Family Guy “Dog Gone” Brian Griffin Does Animal Rights (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, November 30th, 2009 in Animal Issues, Pop Culture, Videos.

A recent episode of Family Guy has Brian Griffin‘s interest in animal rights peak.

After an evening of drinking, Brian hits another dog, but no one cares.

In disgust, Brian starts the Quahog Animal Equal Rights League, with the intention of teaming up with a bigger animal rights organization in the future.

While explaining his plans to Stewie, Brian points to a dog and says, “Do you think he wants to be tied to that chair, waiting for his owner to get ice cream? Hell no!”

If only all dogs could talk like Brian.

Watch the clip above for the full episode to learn why the dog at the ice cream shop was tied up to begin with.

Around Smashbox Studios - MBFW Fall 2008 - Day 3

Loni Love is a comedian and actress who frequently appears on Chelsea Handler‘s show, Chelsea Lately, during The Roundtable, which is a segment that discusses events going on in pop culture.

Recently, the conversation at The Roundtable turned to making a joke about someone eating a pig that was a pet and Loni said, “The nice thing about having a pig as a pet is that when it gets older, you can have bacon.”

Um, no.

What person in their right mind could eat something that has intelligence beyond that of a three year old that they’ve reared and cared for?

We think Chelsea said it best when she jokingly responded she could never raise a pig and eat it because she had “too much respect for Miss Piggy.”

Finally, we can get that annoying Aqua song out of our heads and replace, “Life in plastic, it’s fantastic,” with “I Love Rock and Roll.”

Mattel is unveiling a new line of Barbie dolls in their Barbie Ladies of the 80s collection this winter.

Vegetarian rocker Joan Jett can be purchased now online and will be available in December of this year.

Barbie has been criticized for having a negative affect on girls’ self esteem, but we can’t think of a better role model than Barbie Joan Jett.

Not only does she practice healthy eating habits by choosing to keep meat off her plate,  she’s given her face and time to pro vegetarian campaigns and animal welfare organizations like Farm Sanctuary.

Now all Barbie Joan Jett needs is a sports car that runs on veggie oil and solar panels on her dream home.

Danielle Bremner, known for her tag signature of Utah, has been sentenced for 6 months after pleading guilty to more than a dozen vandalism charges in the Boston area, where’s she’s also been banned.

Bremner, who gawker.com makes a physical comparison to Zooey Deschanel, also happens to follow a similar diet as the recently married singer and actress. Bremner is vegan while Zooey eats mostly vegan.

She and her partner in crime Jim Clay Harper were found responsible for painting graffiti in several cities, and she served time in Rikers for 6 months, where she complained about the lack of vegan food and threatened to sue.

Finally, they got her the peanut butter and soymilk she wanted.

Hope the new jailhouse has tofu on the menu.

Hope she also got Jim to go veg before the two were separated by bars.

What are your thoughts on graffiti?

Art or asinine deviance?
