We’ve been working hard and it’s been our pleasure to serve you over the summer. We’d like to thank all our customers and friends and look forward to seeing you again soon when we re-open.”

Does this mean Heather’s business isn’t doing as well as she predicted?

It depends on who you speak with.

Whitney Port, narrator and cast member of The City and known for her role in The Hills, discovered even a restaurant known for its burgers can whip up something creative sans flesh.

Port dined with friends at Bill’s Bar & Burger in New York, but while her company ate burgers and wings, Port reportedly enjoyed the veggie burger without sauce.

Does this mean Port’s not a fan of roasted red pepper? Cause we sure are and think some homemade pepper sauciness would go great over a homemade veggie burger.

The Market Veggie Burger on Bill’s Menu contains lettuce, tomato, Swiss cheese and roasted red pepper sauce.

Talbots Goes Fur Free. Again.

Talbots

Talbots

When a company reverses or ignores a previously established policy, it loses creditability. Talbots, a clothing store specializing in women’s fashions, has been on the Humane Society’s fur-free retailers list for a decade. However, the company recently listed an $89 rabbit fur collar for sale as part of its fall collection.

Word of this got out and the company received a deluge of phone calls, emails and posts on Facebook from unhappy consumers regarding the decision to reinstate fur. As a result, the company has dropped the fur offering and declared itself fur-free again. For now.

“Thank you for your concern.,” a statement from the company read. “Talbots always seeks to operate under the highest ethical standards. We have heard our customers’ concerns regarding the items offered that contained real fur. These items have been pulled from stores and are no longer available for sale. Talbots remains committed to its policy against the use of real fur in our collection.”

The old saying that “I’d like to die with,” inserting favorite vice is illustrated in a new Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine commercial that airs in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, September 16th, 2010. The group is targeting McDonald’s restaurants, saying the fast food giant is responsible for the poor health of so many Americans living in the nation’s capital.

The commercial shows a man lying in the morgue with a half-eaten burger in his hand. After a few seconds of a grieving loved one hovering over him, the commercial closes with McDonald’s signature golden arches tracing over his feet with the words, “I was Lovin’ It.” The voiceover then says, “High cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart attacks. Tonight, make it vegetarian.”

Angela Lindvall Face Of Eco-Friendly, Vegan Pure DKNY

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, September 13th, 2010 in Business, Cosmetics And Beauty Products, Models.

Angela Lindvall is the face behind Donna Karan‘s new fragrance, Pure DKNY, which sources vanilla through a fair traded cooperative in Uganda. By obtaining vanilla continuously for the fragrance, Pure DKNY seeks to improve farming and processing conditions in Uganda where the bean is indigenous while providing economic opportunity to the farmers, 60% of which are women.

Combine this humanitarian initiative with an eco-friendly recycled glass bottle and carton packaging made using 100% renewable energy in a carbon neutral facility, the only thing standing between this fragrance and perfection is whether or not Pure DKNY is free from animal products.

Donna Karan fragrances are not tested on animals. But Lindvall wasn’t exactly sure if any animal parts went into a bottle.

“I would hope there are no cat hormones in there,” the model who tries to be more eco-friendly told EcoStiletto.
