Whoever thinks vegetarian is another name for bad hunter better not say that to Abbie Cornish when she’s got her M4 in hand.

Not to worry, Cornish, a vegetarian, isn’t interested in shooting anything with a face, animal or human. But she was surprised to learn how much fun she had going for the range to prepare for her latest role in Sucker Punch, the tale of five women who bust out of a psych ward.

Alicia Silverstone‘s vegan diet, lifestyle and cookbook, The Kind Diet, has been released in paperback form.

The paperback edition contains the same useful information about transitioning to a vegan diet, whether you’re interested in eating a few vegan meals a week or going totally raw. The Kind Diet also educates readers on the animal welfare and environmental reasons that motivate some to go vegan.

What’s great about the paperback edition is that it was created in an environmentally friendly manner. The book uses soy ink and is printed on recycled paper. Not only does soy ink produce less harmful chemicals like volatile organic compounds (VOC), it also makes recycling the paper it’s printed on easier because soy ink  is easier to remove from printed paper.

As expected, Silverstone is touring to promote the paperback edition. Check out the dates below to see if she’s coming to a town near you.

Fran Drescher

Fran Drescher said she wanted to throw a few vegan-friendly episodes in her new daytime talk show, The Fran Drescher Tawk Show.

A woman who sticks to her word is worth watching!

Drescher recently hosted Chloe Coscarelli, the vegan baker who won last year’s Cupcake Wars on the Food Network.

Drescher said months ago that although she’s not a vegan, she’s “vegan-curious.” Her curiosity and taste buds were satisfied as Coscarelli explained how vegans strive to exclude all animal products, including byproducts from their diets and even ensure their clothing is free from animal products.

Fran revealed she has a cousin who’s a hardcore vegan just like Coscarelli.

During the cake demonstration, Coscarelli suggested adding vinegar to a cake mix keeps it moist, essentially replacing the egg. And since there’re no raw eggs in the batter, feel free to lick to spoon, something Coscarelli said is one of the “best things about vegan baking.”

Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson is known for giving props to local food when visiting a country, and her recent visit to Tel Aviv was no different.

The actress was welcomed by several animal rights activists carrying tombstones that read, “Thou Shall Not Kill Animals.”

“There are a lot of really great animal rights [activists] here, really good, sympathetic people and I think they’re making a lot of progress even with passing this fur bill, which is a landmark bill and it’s very important for the rest of the world,” Anderson told The Jerusalem Post. “It just seems like everyone is very passionate [in Israel]. There’s not a lot of small talk – people really talk about important things and it’s really incredible the people that I’ve met. We have great conversations.”

Mayim Bialik

When Mayim Bialik takes her little one for a check-up, runny nose or prescription refill, she’ll never have to worry about doc giving her a lecture on proteins, soy products giving him male breasts, the kid’s growth being stunted or any of the other naysaying arguments those in the medical profession who are uneducated about veg diets and children give.

Mayim’s pediatrician for her children happens to be a vegan.

“Fortunately, our pediatrician is vegan, and that’s so incredibly important,” Bialik told VegNews in the April 2011 issue.

“Not only for my son to have a vegan diet reinforced at our check-ups but also to have a pediatrician who’s a nutritionist, whom we can actually go to with my mother-in-law’s questions.”
