Pink Women's Health October 2013

Pink is showing off her ripped abs for the cover of the October 2013 issue of Women’s Health.

“I’ve worked hard for this body,” Pink said during an interview and photo shoot for the magazine.

The work involved to get a stomach like the pop singer who follows a mostly vegan diet includes 60-90 minutes a day of cardio work like martial arts, running, hiking and yoga.

Especially yoga.

Martha Stewart Joan Rivers

Martha Stewart has gotten together with several celebrities to cook, including a visit with one of Twitter’s co-founders to demonstrate a vegan seitan dish.

Martha knows her hummus, and has included a recipe for a pea-based version of the dip in her first ever cookbook devoted entirely to vegetarian cooking, Meatless.

She invited Joan Rivers to her kitchen so the two could whip up yet another version of the Middle Eastern dish.

Traditionally, hummus is made with chickpeas, but there are numerous other beans you could easily use in it.

Now she’s playing just as tough, coming down hard on New York city officials who refuse to take horses out of the drawn-carriage industry.

In an ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Michaels poses with one of her favorite animals and urges fans, NYC residents and animal lovers alike to remember that when it comes to horse-drawn carriages, the animals are always the “Biggest Losers.”

Sarah Silverman has written a heartfelt tribute to her beloved pet dog she adopted at a California shelter 14 years ago.

The 19-year old Duck “Doug” Silverman had been a regular at her bedside since and the two had not only weathered Silverman’s string of good and bad films, but also Duck’s blindness, deafness and arthritis as he has aged over the years.

Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson is quite fond of his tiger friend in The Hangover.

In real life, he’s just as enamored with the big cats and he recently said during an interview that he’s owned several of them and curls up with them in bed just like many do with a kitty from the shelter.

Only his kitty comes from a bigger shelter–at least the size of a sanctuary–and Tyson probably has to scoop much bigger things out of the litter box for it.

“My impulse came from a documentary about rastros, which is what they call slaughterhouses in Mexico. And in this documentary, you could see the cruelty that the animals suffered and the way in which they kill them and how they leave them to bleed out. And from that moment on, I decided to stop eating them. Animals are our brothers, and we can’t keep using them and causing them pain.”

Ruben Albarron, in an interview with PETA, explaining his reason for going vegetarian. The singer of the popular Mexican musical group Cafe Tacvba struck a pose in one of its ads promoting the meatless diet, Revolucion Vegetariana.
