Quantcast Vegetarian StarMeatless Monday Recipe–Martha Stewart White Bean Hummus

Martha Stewart Joan Rivers

Martha Stewart has gotten together with several celebrities to cook, including a visit with one of Twitter’s co-founders to demonstrate a vegan seitan dish.

Martha knows her hummus, and has included a recipe for a pea-based version of the dip in her first ever cookbook devoted entirely to vegetarian cooking, Meatless.

She invited Joan Rivers to her kitchen so the two could whip up yet another version of the Middle Eastern dish.

Traditionally, hummus is made with chickpeas, but there are numerous other beans you could easily use in it.

There have been delicious versions of black bean hummus, fava bean hummus and edamame hummus.

Martha and Joan put together a white bean hummus with kalamata olive relish.

The two had a good time and of course, the comical Joan couldn’t resist making a comment about the dangers of eating too much bean dip at a party.

“They give you gas?” Joan asks as Martha puts white beans into the skillet.

“It’s none of your business Joan,” Martha jokingly replies.

“You don’t want to serve them at a party in a small room,” Joan warns, and suggests this is a dish more suited for “outdoor parties.”

Whether you eat this indoors or out, are prone to gas or are able to down a can of beans like a champ, you’ll still find this version from Martha tasty.
