Oprah Winfrey

Oprah has retired from the daytime talk show business and is all set to air her last episode on May 25, 2011.

Can’t believe it’s been 25 years!

Any Oprah fan knows someone with her passion and energy never really retires, so a group called Saving America’s Mustangs is asking O to spend some of her newfound time to stop the roundup of wild horses in the West.

“[Being vegan] changes everything. First of all your looks. You don’t need any expensive creams anymore because you skin, hair and fingernails just look better. And you lose weight – without the yo-yo effect.”

“Before I became vegan I didn’t even know how good I could feel. I don’t have mood changes that much anymore and I am much fitter. You became more sensitive in a good way and you pay more attention to your body.”

How about a little rap music to start off the weekend?

Musician Parry Gripp has released “I Like Vegetables,”–a catchy tune with a beat that incorporates a love for all things that grow from dirt or from trees and manages to avoid the corny, roll your eyes effect that some jingles that try to convey something serious or educational do.

“Fancy Cars, you can’t sell to me. I spend all my money on celery,” raps Gripp who later adds he’s “notorious” and “nefarious” because he doesn’t “spare one spear of asparagus.”

If the First Lady is looking for a theme song to her “Let’s Move!” campaign, her search should end right here.

Farm Sanctuary 25th anniversary gala

Time‘s “Ecocentric” blog has covered Farm Sanctuary’s 25th anniversary gala in the tastiest of ways.

Bryan Walsh had the pleasure of attending the gala and sampling the vegan food that was created in a joint effort by David Lee, founder of vegan meats Field Roast, and Paolo Dorigato of Cipriani in Manhattan where the celebration was held.

Walsh is an omnivore, but if he had someone to prepare the meal he ate last weekend, especially the Field Roast Porcini Dijon Crusted Cutlet, he might reconsider eating real meat for good.

Ginnifer Goodwin "VegNews"

When we first brought you the news of Ginnifer Goodwin turning her back on veganism, it wasn’t the worst day in the world, as she professed to use humane eggs and still appeared to be vegetarian.

However, after viewing the footage from her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel, it appears the former VegNews cover girl–to put it in the words of a hit movie she starred in–is just not that into vegetarianism either.

Goodwin confessed to Kimmel to not just eating eggs, but animal flesh–meatloaf, burgers and salmon.

She may be doing some sort of “vegetarian in the home outside of the home screw it” move, as Goodwin told Kimmel “my house is humane. That makes me feel less hypocritical”

In 2009, she was the ambassador for turkeys. In 2011…we hope she won’t turn into a Gwyneth Paltrow during Thanksgiving.

The video of Ginnifer on Kimmel can be viewed below.
