Sophia Bush

Sophia Bush has been doing her homework on the veg diet–mainly through assignments of reading Alicia Silverstone‘s vegan diet, lifestyle and cookbook, The Kind Diet.

She hasn’t quite made the transition yet, but she’s sure that day is coming.

“I don’t eat a lot of it any more but a little… I’m sure that in this transition eventually I won’t eat any meat at all,” Bush said.

Steve-O

Steve-O was one of many celebrities who attended premieres of the documentary that explores how a plant-based diet can prevent and reverse major diseases humans are facing such as diabetes and heart disease, Forks Over Knives.

Steve said he supports the film because it advocates the same lifestyle he does.

“I’m here because I’m vegan,” Steve-O said. “And I love it. I’m a big supporter of the vegan lifestyle.”

Meatless Mouthful–Lea Michele Wants Chimps Retired

“Cammy, one of the 14 chimpanzees moved to this Texas lab, was taken from her mom the day she was born. She was first traumatically sedated with powerful chemicals when she was six months old… Cammy and her 13 companions have been infected with hepatitis C and subjected to liver biopsies and many other traumatic procedures.”

Lea Michele, in a letter written to the National Institutes of Health on several chimpanzees subjected to invasive research in medical laboratories. The chimps were nearly retired in 2001 before officials decided to move them back into laboratories. Several celebrities have urged for the chimps retirement, including Emily Deschanel and Ricky Gervais.

Jessica Chastain is the co-star of Brad Pitt and Sean Penn in the Cannes Film Festival winner that comes out in theatres this weekend, Tree of Life.

Chastain has had roles in other big on-screen productions, including ER and Veronica Mars, but not much has been said about her until now.

Nah, that will never happen.

Heck, screw the cats–let them play with your regular computer. These sound like more fun for humans.

The best part about summer? Summer concerts of course! The worst part about summer concerts? The excessive ticket fees for everything from parking to the privilege of going to the bathroom in a modern facility vs. the woods in the back. Wouldn’t it at least be great to know all that money you’re shoving out to see Katy Perry shake her hips is going for a good cause?

If you buy your tickets from Tickets for Charity, at least you’ll be helping out some great charitable organizations like the Humane Society of the United States.

“6 Easy-to-Prepare Meat Substitutes” ditches traditionally thought of vegetarian proteins like low-fat dairy products and suggests high-protein plant substitutes for meat like seitan, tempeh, tofu and beans.

Oprah Ended Show On Good Vegetarian Note

Oprah Winfrey can be seen for the final time today on her daytime television show after 25 years in production.

Many blogs and news sources are reflecting on how Oprah has impacted the lives of millions throughout the years, discussing some of her most memorable and even controversial shows.

In both 1996 and 2011, Oprah touched on the meat industry and vegetarianism. A lot changed during those 15 years and perhaps that’s why the show in 2011 ended on a little more positive note.
