Sophia Bush has shared some of her favorite foods with Shape magazine.

Although she usually aims for foods with high nutritional content, occasionally she’ll indulge with her favorite ice cream.

“It’s all about balance — it is important to maintain a healthy diet of whole grains, fruits and vegetables, but it’s also important to enjoy yourself once in a while, and sometimes that means letting yourself give in to your cravings, whatever they may be,” Sophia said.

Sophia Bush has been doing her homework on the veg diet–mainly through assignments of reading Alicia Silverstone‘s vegan diet, lifestyle and cookbook, The Kind Diet.

She hasn’t quite made the transition yet, but she’s sure that day is coming.

“I don’t eat a lot of it any more but a little… I’m sure that in this transition eventually I won’t eat any meat at all,” Bush said.

Sophia Bush is trying to go vegan.

And she thinks she can accomplish this with the help of Alicia Silverstone‘s vegan diet, lifestyle and cookbook, The Kind Diet.

“I’m slowly trying to do the vegan thing, so I’m not really a vegan yet but I’m working on it,” Bush said. “My family is Italian (and) my whole life has consisted of great meat and great cheese. I read Alicia Silverstone’s book and I’m trying some of the recipes out.”

The Kind Diet

For someone trying to slowly ease into veganism, The Kind Diet may be the formula for success. Silverstone breaks vegans down into three types: flirts, vegans and superheroes. Flirts dabble with simple vegan recipes here and there while vegans give up animal products completely. Superheroes take health to the ultimate level, mostly scratching prepared or vegan junk food for a steady diet of whole foods.

Sorry guys, but no, they’re not posing naked together.

Awhile back Lea Michele wasn’t so sure she’d ever take her clothes off in the name of animals or vegetarianism. However, a recent poll conducted by Radar Online backstage at PETA’s 30th anniversary gala found Michele would consider such an offer.

“I don’t think we need to see a billboard of me naked to know I am anti-fur, but if they asked I would probably do it,” the Glee actress said.

Sophia Bush of One Tree Hill has toyed with vegetarianism and veganism, but finds it hard to keep up the diet and lifestyle after a few days.

“I don’t know if it’s a blood type thing or what, but if I don’t eat meat for a few days I actually start to get sick,” Bush told Ecostiletto. “But what I’ve done is decrease the amount of meat that I eat. I read a statistic that if Americans cut their consumption of meat in half—any kind of meat, beef or chicken—we would lower our greenhouse gas emissions by something like 60%. It’s astonishing.”
