What made Vanilla Ice decide to drop burgers for curries and veggie pizza? A cholesterol number that was way too fat and not in the “ph” way.

The rapper who’s been avoiding meat for three and a half years said, “I had high cholesterol. You know how some people can have a bunch of cheeseburgers and get high cholesterol? Mine was hereditary. I tried being vegetarian for three months, and it brought my cholesterol from over 300 to 133 without drugs.”

Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbacher Rants About Proposition B For Breeders

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, October 8th, 2010 in Animal Issues.

SANDUSKY, OH - OCTOBER 30: Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) (R), Samuel 'Joe the Plumber' Wurzelbacher and Cindy McCain wave goodbye to supporters after a campaign rally at the Gazebo at Washington Park October 30, 2008 in Sandusky, Ohio. With less than a week before the U.S. presidential election, McCain launched a two-day bus tour of the swing state of Ohio, where some polls show his opponent, Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) leading by nine points. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)

Joe The Plumber is back, not as the McCain/Palin sidekick, but a supporter of the Tea Party and a group called the Alliance for Truth, who is against changing legislation that would require dog breeders in Missouri to up their care for animals and eliminate breeding practices that are detrimental.

Proposition B will be voted on by Missouri residents in November and Joe The Plumber wants them to know no one should keep a dog owner from leaving a piece of food in the water bowl. Or something like that.

“Missouri’s Proposition B makes it a “crime of cruelty” for a piece of dog food to be in a water bowl or for a dog breeder to treat their own pet if they become ill… (No folks, I don’t make this stuff up.)”

Cesar Millan “The Dog Whisperer” To Feature Wolf-Dog Hybrids

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, October 8th, 2010 in Animal Issues, TV Hosts.

Cesar Millan will feature wolf-dog hybrids on “The Dog Whisperer” this season. Produced by breeding a wolf with a particular breed of dog like Akitas, German shepherds, Alaskan Malamutes, and huskies, the wolf-dog half breed combines the genes of a wild and domestic creature, but it’s often the wild genes that are dominant, resulting in destruction to human homes and threats to safety of other creatures surrounding them.

“One thing we have to understand about a wolf, besides the primal side of them, is the physical ability,” Millan said, in an interview with The DCist. “In the jaw of a wolf is the mouth of two pit bulls. A pit bull has 750 psi, pressure, in his jaw. A wolf has 1500 psi in his mouth.”

Citing incidents where these hybrids have killed people and pets, The Humane Society of the United States urges all states to ban private possession of these animals. However, a look at wolfdogalliance.org reveals laws vary tremendously by state, from allowing hybrids to be kept as pets with a license to no regulation at all.

“I won’t have meat all over my body… I love Gaga and her music, she is so talented but I find that… Actually I think it was gross! I don’t even like walking past a meat counter, so it’s not my sort of dress.”

Leona Lewis, to X Magazine, about Lady Gaga’s fashion sense. Walking past the meat counter may not only be a psychologically disturbing experience for a vegetarian, but a smelly one too. Rotten flesh and potentially expired meat stinks, as some customers who complained to the health department of Atlanta about smells of “dried blood” and “stinking” smells at the Super Giant grocery store’s meat department learned. The health department had received previous complaints and had cited the store, where the manager says he sells meat at a reduced price as it nears the expiration date, for safety issues.

Vegetarian Star’s take: That meat “expired” when the animal’s heart stopped beating. It’s all a health hazard!
