Quantcast Leona Lewis

Leona Lewis

Leona Lewis visited the Cleveland Armory Black Beauty Ranch to get close with a few of her favorite animal friends that included horses, primates and other animals.

Lewis recorded a PSA for the ranch, which sits on 1,300 acres and is home to over 1,200 wild and domestic animals that have been rescued from various situations such as circuses, roadside zoos and slaughterhouses.

“I have my own horse,” Lewis says in the video. “He’s so beautiful and gentle and gives me so much love back. To think that someone would hurt them is heartbreaking.”

Leona Lewis has written a letter to her MP asking to support a ban on wild animals in Britain’s circuses.

“I am shocked and outraged that there needs to be a debate about whether it is okay for wild animals to perform tricks in the big top,” Lewis wrote in the letter. “I add my voice to this campaign and to the World Society for the Protection of Animals, who is lending its support to an alliance of animal welfare groups campaigning for an end to this.”

Several celebrities have inked themselves in temporary color to support a campaign of the Humane Society International to end the sale of animal-tested cosmetics in the UK by 2013.

“It’s upsetting to think that right now thousands of animals are enduring painful tests for cosmetics that could end up being sold on EU shop shelves,” said Leona Lewis. “So I’m sending a plea to EU politicians to have a heart for animals by keeping their promise to ban the sale of animal-tested cosmetics in 2013. If companies can’t sell their products, they’ll stop animal testing, and we’ll be one stop closer to the whole world being cruelty-free.”

Plans to build a mega dairy in Britain have been scrapped, thanks to concerned citizens and environmental agencies.

Leona Lewis is one celebrity who is against buying and consuming milk from battery cows and finds it hard to understand why a plan like the one Nocton Dairy proposed would even be considered in Britain. She would like a complete ban of milk in Britain from cows in these factory farm settings.

“I think it is shocking that in a country like Britain – with our good reputation for animal welfare and farming – that we are even talking about intensive dairy farms… We won’t stop until we know factory milk from battery cows will never be allowed in Britain.”

After announcing it would not establish a mega dairy in Britain, Nocton issued the following statement:

Several British celebrities have spoken out about a plan to bring factory dairy farms to Britain, including vegetarians Leona Lewis and Chrissie Hynde.

The World Society for the Protection of Animals has launched a campaign, “Not In My Cuppa,” educating British people on the effects of large-scale dairy farms on animals and the environment and asking them to state they would not drink milk from battery cows.

The plan to bring Nocton Dairy to Britain is one of the first in the UK, according to the WSPA. And almost half of the British surveyed said milk made them think of cows grazing in green pastures and 61% said they’d never buy milk produced from such a large farm.

Here’s what the plan could mean in terms of animal welfare and the environment:

Leona Lewis Fear Of Cats And Facebook Group For Cat Phobics

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, December 1st, 2010 in Animal Issues, Female Singers.

Leona Lewis

Leona Lewis is a vegetarian who loves animals and has demonstrated her compassion by partnering with animal welfare groups for various campaigns.

We’re sure she’d love for all homeless cats to be adopted. Just don’t expect her to sign any papers inviting kitty into her home.

The singer is reportedly fearful of “evil” cats, which she revealed on a DVD promoting her Labyrinth tour.

“A cat jumped on me the other week,” Lewis said. “They scare me. It hissed and scratched my legs – I didn’t know what to do! So I got up and shook my leg, but she was stuck to it. It was an evil cat. I don’t like evil cats.”

Anyone with a extreme fear of cats, even the non-evil ones, is said to have Ailurophobia (pronounced ahy-loor-uh-foh-bee-uh), or an abnormal fear of felines. The condition is popular enough to get its own group on Facebook.
