Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, August 30th, 2010 in Business, Food & Drink, Restaurants.

You know you’re good veggie burger when you land on the Denny’s menu.

Amy’s Kitchen has kept vegetarians and vegans on a full stomach for over 20 years, and now one of the biggest restaurant chains in America is adding its veggie burger to the menu. As part of both Denny’s “Hand-Helds” and “Better for you options,” customers can order the meatless patty either with Pepper Jack cheese, fresh spinach, tomato and grilled mushrooms on a wheat bun or anyway they’d like.

Bill Clinton is keeping a vegetarian vow after embracing the diet to lose a few pounds for daughter Chelsea’s wedding.

Page Six reports that the former president of the United States was spotted eating a veggie burger at Babette’s in East Hampton, New York. And let’s hear it for Hillary, who chose the falafel instead of meat as well.

“He was sitting in a corner banquette, eating a veggie burger and a mountain of vegetables. He was with Hillary, who had a falafel plate, and her mother, Dorothy Rodham, who ate French toast. Hillary kept her sunglasses on throughout the meal, and a security guard stood outside the bathroom near their table.”

In case you haven’t heard, New York vegetarian restaurant owner Amanda Cohen did broccoli well on an episode of Iron Chef America that aired this weekend. The secret ingredient could be found paired with a crispy, orange tofu, which one judge said tasted, “nothing at all like the tofu I made when I was a teenager, when I was a strict vegetarian.”

Ironically, another judge liked the tofu and everything else but the secret ingredient. “I’m not so found of the broccoli.”

Sigh…You can’t please everyone.

Carol Alt RAW Essentials Skincare Premiers On ShopNBC

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, August 27th, 2010 in Cosmetics And Beauty Products, Models.

Carol Alt recently premiered her vegan skincare line, RAW Essentials, on Shopnbc, where customers can shop and interact via various electronic media including online, mobile devices and cable and satelite TV. Alt’s line, including cleansers, hand and foot care, anti-aging products and more are free of synthetic chemicals, parabens, vegan and not tested on animals.

It’s unknown if Alt demanded the products be cruelty-free or if the company that wanted her name behind them insisted. It’s not as if Alt is cruelty-free in other areas of her life. Earlier this year, she attended the Dennis Basso fur show with attire fit for the event’s theme.

Still, with a matching hand and foot cream for roughly $25, RAW Essentials offer another alternative to synthetic cosmetics that, unlike Alt, don’t contain any fur.

Paul McCartney has become the latest celebrity to reach out to NASA, urging the agency not to use monkeys in radiation experiments to determine its effect on humans.

“I believe NASA has the ingenuity to investigate the health effects of space travel without confining and experimenting on animals as was done in the old days,” McCartney wrote, reports Gigwise.

“It would be terribly disappointing if in our zeal to explore new frontiers and to learn about the fascinating universe where we live we began to regress in our treatment of the animals with whom we share this planet.”

Earlier this summer HLN journalist, Jane Velez-Mitchell hosted an ex NASA employee who quit her job in development after learning about the experiments that the European Space Agency has no interest in.

NASA has used monkeys before to test the effects of space travel on the human body.
