With several women who’ve ran for high political offices, including president and vice-president, an African-American president in office with several other minorities under his leadership, one might think the United States has come a long way in equal opportunity and diversifying those that run the country.

But we’ve yet to see a president who eats tofu served from the White House kitchen. And Bill Maher doubts we will soon.

Bill Clinton appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show where he revealed what he felt were some of his greatest accomplishments, such as the William J. Clinton Foundation’s push to provide medication to children in impoverished countries.

Clinton’s greatest personal health accomplishment is adopting a vegan diet after learning it could help him reverse some of the damage heart disease has caused.

It’s also helped him look a little sleeker in his swim trunks.

“This is the third week in a row where I will weigh less than I did when I finished high school,” Clinton said.

At the young age of 40, Lance Armstrong has so many accomplishments to his name.

Multiple Tour de France winner. Testicular cancer survivor with a foundation (Lance Armstrong Foundation @ Livestrong.org) that empowers others living and beating the same disease (80 million people with those yellow bracelets couldn’t be more fashionable). Ironman competitor. A new line of fitness equipment. And now. Perhaps his greatest achievement ever…a vegan until six and Engine 2 Diet athlete.

Hillary Clinton was recently interviewed with Savannah Guthrie of NBC’s Today Show when the subject of her husband’s diet came up.

Bill has continued to vouch for the diet during press appearances and now the Secretary of State is verifying he does sneak soy nuts and not chickens wings to bed as a snack.

So Chelsea Clinton has been a model vegetarian and vegan in the media.

She went veg while living in the White House, took cooking lessons from the chef there and fed her wedding guests with vegetarian and vegan food.

So what’s the deal with telling dad to eat Charlie Tuna every now and then?

Don’t ask former President Bill Clinton to take a seat next to a raw-meat dressed Gaga at the next big celebrity gala.

The 65-year old recently turned vegan has invited Lady Gaga to a late celebration of his birthday, the Hollywood Bowl.

He’s hoping she’ll dress a little more modestly than she did at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Being vegan doesn’t suck.

Just ask Bill Clinton.

During an interview on Today with Matt Lauer, Clinton finished off the 12 minute segment reassuring everyone that while there are many things that suck in the world, tofu and beans aren’t included.

LAUER: 30 seconds to end on a lighter note. When you were president, you were known for your appetite. Man, you loved the doughnuts, the junk food, anything southern fried. Now we sit here and you’re just turned 65, you’ve had a quadruple bypass and you’re a vegan. Does that suck?

“After his heart surgery he became much more diligent about taking long walks and going to the gym and going on hikes with my mom and their dog…. Starting a couple years ago, he really made a commitment to and a concerted effort to eat healthier. I am profoundly grateful that my dad makes different choices now. Selfishly, now I hope he lives forever. I am sure every child feels that way.”

–Chelsea Clinton, during an interview she gave after visiting an elementary school that is working to combat childhood obesity through the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. The organization was founded shortly after her father’s surgery as a partnership between the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation. Following a vegan diet may be the best way to make his daughter proud. Chelsea has been a vegetarian since she moved into the White House with dad.
