Lindsay Lohan “Ungaro” Fashion Fur Pas

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 in Actresses, Fur.

Emmanuel Ungaro - Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010

A Tweet from Lindsay Lohan gave a glimmer of hope the actress might be going cruelty-free in her designs for French fashion house Ungaro, where she is the artistic advisor.

“Fyi my furs are fake! Seriously!”

However, a call to her rep from PETA revealed the stoles you see from Lindsay are indeed real fur.

Real fur in 2009?

Guess the reviews of her fashions, describing them as “cheesy and dated” and “old-fashioned and ill-judged fur stoles,” were right on target.

To avoid making a cruel and bad fashion statement like Lindsay, fake your furs from fabulousfurs.com.

Ed Begley Jr. Green Tips For Less Green

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 in Actors, Environment-Eco-Green.

2009 Cable's Summer Press Tour_Day3

Ed Begley Jr.‘s Green Planet show, Living With Ed, premiers another season tonight at 9PM EST.

Despite his hectic schedule preaching the green news, Green Daily was able to catch up with Ed to chat about his latest adventures in going green and how you can go green on a budget.

GD: Since the economy blew an O-ring last fall, have you noticed a significant change in the green movement?

EB: It’s a challenge, but it creates opportunity to do the cheap and easy stuff first. Pick the low hanging fruit. Like what I did in 1970s: weather stripping, home gardening, lighting, taking public transportation, riding a bike when weather permits. It took me 15 years before I could afford any of the expensive upgrades like solar panels.

GD: Can you give GD readers your top three effective yet inexpensive ways to go green at home?

EB: Sure! Check all weather stripping around doors and windows, upgrade to energy-efficient lighting, and installing an energy efficient thermostat. That’s all very inexpensive and effective.

Another feel-good thing that’s cheap and practical is a home energy audit. In many parts of the country it’s free. It gives you a heirarchy so you can prioritize what makes sense to do next. Also, you can get $1,500 assistance from the Obama administration for home energy efficiency tax credits.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 in Actors, Environment-Eco-Green, Food & Drink.

Spike TV's Scream 2009 - Show

Woody Harrelson is set to receive an honorary doctorate from York University this Saturday for his environmental activism.

“It’s not always the usual suspects that need to be uncovered and recognized,” said Dawn Bazely, a biology professor who helped nominate Woody and learned about his environmental efforts after watching Go Further, a 2003 film featuring Woody taking a biofueled road trip to spread the eco friendly news.

During his interview with the Tornonto Star, Woody touched a bit on his veganism.

Q: What’s your biggest challenge as a raw-food vegan?

A: Sitting at a restaurant that’s not vegan and trying to explain I can’t have any dairy or butter without annoying the s— out of everybody at the table.

Woody admits he wasn’t into the green scene in college, but became interested in the late 80s and early 90s.

Although we’re saddened we can’t spread the gossip that Taylor Momsen is still vegetarian, at least we can bring you the news she still doesn’t eat red meat.

At the recent Whitney Museum Gala at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Taylor discussed how she’s trying to combat the flu season this year with lots of veggies.

“I eat really healthy and I work out,” Taylor said. “I dance and go to the gym a little bit here and there.”

Last year, Taylor was a victim of the flu bug while working on the set of Gossip Girl.

Many veg foods like garlic, citrus and yogurt with probiotics have been suggested to strengthen your immune system and help fight the flu.

The Whitney Museum Gala in New York!

Lindsay Lohan arrived at the Whitney Museum of American Art for the 2009 Whitney Museum Gala.

With so many beautifully preserved works at the Whitney like Georgia O’Keeffe paintings there’s really no need to bring ancient caveman artifacts like fur coats into the institution.

Lindsay’s been criticized for her fur wearing ways in the past.

Has she learned an important lesson and changed her ways?

Take a look and judge for yourself.

Is Lindsay’s fur coat real? Or is she faking it?

Mayim Bialik: Life’s A Lot Greener Since “Blossom”

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 in Actresses, Environment-Eco-Green.

Premiere Screening For "REX"

Mayim Bialik is a green mommy, making her own shampoo, cleaning and granola products for her family.

In a recent interview with the Sierra Club, Mayim discussed how life on the screen has become more environmentally friendly as well.

Blossom ended when I was 19. Things are a lot different now. Recycling is a standard part of everyone’s vocabulary, which is significant because of the amount of scripts. The beauty products used aren’t tested on animals and are gentler on the environment. Green practices are becoming a much more accepted line of conversation. I don’t wear leather and that’s something easier to address now.”
