Dr Jane Goodall Speaks At Taronga Zoo

“If you would spend just a little bit of time learning about the consequences of the choices you make each day — what you buy, what you eat, what you wear, how you interact with people and animals — and start consciously making choices that would be beneficial rather than harmful.”

—-Jane Goodall, noted primate researcher and vegetarian, in an interview with the latimes.com.

5th Annual Jammy Jam Awards
skittles-791435

Nellie McKay has expressed her love for junk food and the interest in manufacturing more junk food for vegans.

The singer and songwriter may have gotten her wish because Skittles has taken the gelatin out of their candies.

Weird fact: Skittles had already taken the junk out of  their trunk (a.k.a. the gelatin from their product) in other countries. What took them so long to get on board in the U.S.?

But now’s not the time for criticism. Let’s give it up for Skittles and show ’em how we appreciate them making a mainstream product veg friendly.

Our Suggestions For Making Scott Adams’ “Cheapatopia” Vegetarian

Scott Adams, creator of the popular office cartoon series, Dilbert, has started a series of blog posts about his ideal city, Cheapatopia.

Cheapatopia sounds a little like a town populated by the Goode family.

Everything is powered by renewable energy, there’s a strict no smoking and no junk food policy to keep health insurance rates down, and the goal is to “do more with less” while reducing consumerism.

You also never have to shovel snow and gain points for good deeds that can be redeemed for services like babysitting.

And the backbone of social interaction in Cheapatopia is the Internet. Ah, a blogger’s dream.

Of course, in an ideal world, a completely vegetarian city would do wonders for health insurance rates, but Adams doesn’t want to tick too many people off.

“I’ll stop short of suggesting that everyone must be a vegetarian, but only because that’s such a hot button.”

Hey, if this is an imaginary world, why not keep calling the shots?

In Cheapatopia, why not make every kind of animal meat available in the veg variety, still tasting like the real thing?

Would genetically altering everyone’s taste buds to dislike meat altogether be too artificial for the goal of  “simplifying” the community and lives of the citizens?

Ana Ortiz: One Of Those Vegetarian Until Pregnant Women

Chandra Wilson Debuts In Chicago On Broadway - Arrivals & Curtain Call

Talk about news!

How is it we are just now finding out about Ana Ortiz being a vegetarian? She must be keeping mum because there are very few sources about her being one.

Sadly, we are here to report that the Ugly Betty actress, like other women we’ve reported on, gave into insatiable meat cravings during her pregnancy.

From an interview with cookiemag.com:

“During my pregnancy, it has been much more difficult [to stay vegetarian] because I have really been craving meat. So I make sure it is local, grass-fed, and healthy—as healthy as possible. Otherwise, I stick to vegetarianism.”

Ana had mentioned she wanted to bring her baby up as eco-friendly as possible and we had suggested she and baby go veg.

Hopefully, now that little Paloma Louise Lebenzon is done cooking in the oven, Ana will go back to the veg life-taking the tyke with her.

Say, does anybody know the phenomena behind those crazy meat cravings during pregnancy? Any PhDs or other researchers out there? What gives?

Im a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! Press Conference

Second place winner of I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here Torrie Wilson said she went vegetarian after finishing the reality TV competition.

“I’ve changed my entire way of eating after the show,” she told the Baltimore Sun. “I became a vegetarian, almost vegan. I feel wonderful after having the cleansing I had there and getting off sugar.”

Torrie’s competitor and 3rd place winner John Salley is vegan and according to chron.com, it was John that gave Torrie the little “push.”

“Wilson became good buddies with former NBA player Salley, who persuaded her to become a vegetarian.”

It’s great that Torrie became veg. Even greater than John helped her “convert.”

Now it’s just a matter of him sharing those recipes cards and giving her samples of his Double Baked Herbed Crisps to share.
