**Exclusive** Alanis Morissette jogging with a friend in Brentwood

When Alanis Morissette went vegan, she lost 20 pounds, some of which, must have been on her bum.

Now, she’s teamed up with Woody Harrelson to bring everyone demin jeans that not only look good on the bum, but on the environment as well.

Reco Jeans are made with 50% recycled denim.

The jeans are history makers, as Reco is the only company that has provided jeans with a recycled content this high.

Reco Jeans is offering 300 limited edition boxed sets that include a Reco ipod that potential customers like you have the opportunity to bid on the price in a Dutch auction bid that ends July 18.

The Dutch auction bid prices will also play a factor in determining the price of the regularly offered jeans later.

Chrissie Hynde’s Time To Go Is When It’s Time To Eat Meat

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, July 13th, 2009 in Female Musicians, Female Singers.

The Pretenders Perform In Madrid

Chrissie Hynde never spares words when voicing her opinions, even at the risk of offending and hurting others. She’s keeping up her reputation with a recent interview with Scotland and Sunday.

The Pretenders’ frontwoman insists she would rather give her own life than eat an animal’s because of the guilt she would carry if she ate one.

“I’m always surprised when I meet meat eaters,” Chrissie said. “I just think why on earth do you do that? You could put a gun to my head and say, ‘If you want to live you have to eat steak’, and I’d say, ‘Time to go’. I don’t want that kind of blood on my soul. I’m ready to go right now to be honest. I’m not saying I want to die, but I’ve got no further material goals. Anyway, if you haven’t finished your business here you’ll come back to do it. I like to think mine is finished, thanks very much.”

Jason Mraz Does Vitamineral Green For Breakfast

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, July 11th, 2009 in Business, Food & Drink, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Jason Mraz performs at Le Zenith, Paris

Vegan singer and musician Jason Mraz has recently revealed on his blog what he consumes for the most important meal of the day.

“The secret to a great day is how you start your day. And for the past year and a half I’ve avoided eating a heavy traditional breakfast. Instead, I merrily jumpstart my day with the ever-so-awesome Vitamineral Green from Healthforce Nutritionals”

“One heaping scoop of this stuff in the morning provides an insane amount of goodness for the body. The powdered greens (from dehydrated plants and algae among other things) taken by itself is enough to live on. It goes straight to the blood and straight to the brain and stays with you all day. I stir mine every morning with ONE-Brand Coconut Water, but I prefer to blend it also with some Flax Oil, Freelife Goji Juice, Avocados, Maca Spice (the Peruvian Viagra) and a few dates. I even do Cayenne pepper on mornings that I want something savory. The flavor options are unlimited and there’s no way you can overdose on the stuff.”

“Think about it for a second, would you rather start your day with something fattening and/or sugary that ends up around your waist or deep in your ass, or would you rather feel light and energized with a glow that people can recognize? Remember, you are what you eat.”

Healtforce Nutritionals is a 100% gluten-free product company that is probably anointing Jason’s feet with oil now that they’ve gotten such a big plug.

Chrissie Hynde Gives Up Alcohol After Katy Perry Experience

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, July 11th, 2009 in Female Musicians, Female Singers.

The Pretenders Perform In Madrid

As Alanis Morissette would say, “Isn’t It Ironic?”

Just a day after we posed the question of whether or not vegetarians and vegans should make more efforts stay away from substances, vegan singer Chrissie Hynde announces she’s giving up alcohol. Again.

“I last drank two weeks ago and I’ve put the cork in the bottle – I’m never drinking again. I’ve said it a few hundred times before, but I mean it this time.”

The decision came after a night of several drinks and wild times.

Apparently Chrissie did some Katy Perry thing with a girl and it surprised her.

“I think I tried to snog a girl. I woke up and thought, ‘I can’t be doing stuff like that!'”

Natalie Portman Making Guest Appearance On Bravo’s Top Chef

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, July 9th, 2009 in Actresses, Food & Drink, Reality TV.

2009 White House Correspondents Association Dinner

Natalie Portman will be making a special guest appearance on Bravo’s Top Chef in the upcoming season six, which premiers Wednesday, August 26th at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Since Nat is a hard core vegan, the cheftestants will probably be given the challenge of whipping up something meatless, eggless, and dairyless for the actress.

Top Chef had a vegan experience last year, when the Food Fighters were invited during the Thanksgiving episode and requested the chefs cater for their crew of 60 people, some of which were vegetarian.

The vegan cornbread stole the show last year. Will another veg dish be a big hit?

Crossing our fingers none of the cheftestants “chicken” out like last year’s Carla and go with a meaty dish when they really wanted to make a vegetarian one.

Ah, yes.

There’s nothing like a man who knows how to hold a vegan chicken sandwich.

Montreal Canadienes hockey player Georges Laraque tried one of Kentucky Fried Chicken’s vegan faux chicken patties.

The vegan sandwich is currently available at KFCs in Canada only. The vegan offering was part of a deal the restaurant chain reached with PETA to move towards less cruelty, and they are currently making the transition to switch to controlled atmosphere killing.

Apparently, dude loved it so much, he ordered two more to go!

But we know he could have easily downed another on the spot if he was hungry enough, given the fact that he’s a six three, 260 pound athlete who maintains his athletic frame on a vegan diet.

Yep, that’s right. Georges was vegetarian for awhile, but made the vegan switch in June.

John Salley: The Next Food Network Star

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, July 6th, 2009 in Athletes-Games-Sports, Food & Drink.

22nd Annual Sports Spectacular - Show

John Salley wants his own Food Network show!

From blogs.ajc.com:

“I’m shopping around for a cooking show. And I plan to do a reality show with my family, my wife and three kids. I’m about to take a flight to meet with NBC. And I’m trying to sell my cooking show concept to the Food Network.”

John has already created his own line of vegan, organic snack foods that he’s promoting.

It would be great to watch him whip up some of that Slam Dunk Guacamole on television.

And a nice alternative to watching Paula Deen put 10 pounds of butter in a casserole while she brags about bringing gifts of ham during the Holiday season.
