Quantcast Vegetarian Stareco

“How many people have hybrids in this town, how many people recycle? Being vegetarian is so much more eco-conscious. And it’s lovely to know that when you are eating it’s ethical and nothing had to die. I’d have a veggie burger even when I was eating meat.”

Owain Yeoman, star on The Mentalist, at Peta’s 30th anniversary gala. Although he said a raw food experiment “didn’t sit well,” with him, Yeoman’s been a vegetarian for 2 years and a vegan for 6 month, making him super green and eco-conscious.

Josie Maran Thanks Mom For Green Influence

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, April 29th, 2010 in Environment-Eco-Green, Gardening.

The Green Lounge Benefit Santa Monica

Moby credits his mother for turning him on to veganism and animal rights, as he told Vegetarian Times she tried to “sneak tofu into my food and I would be outraged.”

Moby eventually learned to love the life his mother was trying to impress on him and as we approach Mother’s Day, model and eco friendly beauty products entrepreneur Josie Maran also thanks her mother for bringing her up environmentally friendly.

“My mom is my role model for being green,” Maran said, and revealed that earlier that afternoon she had shown her own daughter how to plant produce in the garden.

Do you have your mother to thank for being vegetarian and green?

Bravo's First "A-List Awards" - Arrivals

Christian Lander, founder and writer on the very popular and satirical Stuff White People Like blog, that launched millions of visits, thousands of discussions, a book deal and a dozen other “Stuff People Like” blogs, is the authority on what the subject of his humor–college educated, upper middle class, often liberal Caucasians–enjoys.

Lander jokingly told the Arkansas Times he predicts the next very environmentally friendly and sustainable trend among white people is gardening.

As a white person, he’s already tried it.

“Um, “growing your own food” is trending pretty hard. I spent $80 to grow two tomatoes last summer. They were terrible tomatoes, but I lied to myself and told myself they were delicious.”

Guess Lander didn’t bother consulting any Gardening Guides before planting those organic tomatoes.

Ironically, he says backlashes are another trend that might show up and vegetarians may feel the brunt of it.

“It was like the whole backlash against bacon after everyone wanted to go vegetarian, then people started getting annoyed with vegetarians so they went as far the other way as possible.”

Confusing, since #32 on the list of Stuff White People Like is Vegetarian/Veganism.

White, black, brown, purple and green people should get on this latest bandwagon and plant your own tomatoes, green beans, lettuce and everything else.

And if you haven’t already done #32 on the list, it’s time.
