Opening Night For Spamalot At The Wynn Las Vegas - Arrivals

No, it’s not a sequel to the popular Reese Witherspoon Legally Blonde movie.

The green law firm Gardere Wynne Sewell invited Ed Begley Jr. to their 100th anniversary celebration.

The firm is involved with many environmentally friendly initiatives from greening its IT department to planting trees around cities.

“Ed was a hit with our attorneys, staff and clients, and it was fun to have a bit of Hollywood at Gardere,” said Stephen Good, the firm’s managing partner.

“His visit opened many minds to the idea of being green change agents. That is part of why we established the Gardere Green initiative in the first place — not only to do our part but to help others join in.”

Ed’s message for the day was that everyone can do their part to help the environment.

And boy, did Gardere Wynne Sewell do their part that day.

Most food was vegetarian, which reportedly even the carnivorous (maybe those are the injury) attorneys didn’t mind. The selection of vegan and gluten-free items were abundant and the food was purchased locally.

The event was also held at an LEED certified building featuring carpet and conference room chairs made from recycled material.

VegNews magazine recently interviewed Todd “the Rod” Kowalski of the band Propagandhi on their new album, Supporting Caste, which features a satirical song about cooking up food writer Sandor Katz after raising him “humanely.”

The boys go to a lot of vegan restaurants while on tour and can’t get enough Thai food.

“We went to an unbelievable Thai restaurant called Peace Harmony in Sydney, Australia two days ago,” said bassist Kowalski. “We went there four times in two days!”

Um, obsessed much, guys?

Back home in Canada, Todd likes staying in to cook, but will saunter over to his favorite Ethiopian restaurant, Merkato, in Winnipeg.

Rise Against Band Fronts Impotency Drug, Rise Again

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 in Bands, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

KROQ Almost Acoustic Xmas - Day 1

The all vegetarian band Rise Against is quite vocal in letting people know the benefits of being vegetarian, whether that be  mentioning it during an interview or handing out PETA pamphlets at one of their concerts.

So they were elated when a well known large and successful pharmaceutical company decided to collaborate with them to name an impotency drug, “Rise Again,” after the band.

The drug apparently gives you several servings of fruits and vegetables in one capsule and helps you to resist the urge to eat artery clogging meat products which can cause impotence.

“In essence, this drug will help men all over the world “rise again,” said lead scientist Dr. Peter Peterson.

“We thought the band would be perfect to front the drug,” added marketing executive Jill Johnson.

“After all, their name “Rise Against,” symbolizes what men desire. To rise against the unhealthy habits that are causing their impotency and be able to in fact, “rise again,” and please their partners.”

Lead singer of the band Tim McIlrath said, “It’s great that we were chosen to represent Rise Again. The most important thing about a vegetarian diet is that it helps prevent impotency. It’s good for the environment and saves the animals too, but no impotency is the main benefit. I myself, or any of my band mates have never experienced impotency. We attribute it to our vegetarian lifestyle.”

Rise Again is currently in the final stages of clinical trials. No side effects have been reported and it doesn’t interact with other medications. Rise Again is expected to hit the OTC shelves late this summer.

Gordon Ramsay Goes Vegetarian After Electrocuting Himself

Gordon Ramsey Signs Copies of Gordon Ramseys Healthy Appetite

Gordon Ramsay, the celebrity chef notorious for his not so kind remarks about vegetarians and vegetarian food has become a vegetarian.

If you recall us telling you, Gordon’s hatred of vegetarians was so passionate, he once said he’d put his children on a fence and electrocute them if they adopted the diet.

That has changed.

When Gordon’s wife Tana, announced she was becoming vegetarian and that should would force the diet on the children, Gordon was less than pleased.

“I couldn’t believe after so many years of marriage, she would betray me like this,” Ramsay said, according to Chef Gossip Daily. “So, I decided to put her on the electric fence and electrocute her to prevent anything like this from happening to my seeds.”

While trying to put his wife on the electric fence, Gordon managed to shock himself. The great pain he experienced brought him to an epiphany-like state where he suddenly had more compassion for animals and wanted a healthier diet for himself and his family.

“I’m just glad it wasn’t anal electrocution like those poor animals on fur farms receive,” Gordon said, rubbing his bum to emphasize how painful that would have been.

Now every evening, Gordon likes to cook vegetarian food with his wife Tana. The children are found of tofu, but Gordon prefers they eat seitan, because it “sounds more devilish” and he hates for anyone to think he’s softened in any other area than his diet.

Morrissey Denied Cooking Rights At “House Of Rules” In Boston

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 in Food & Drink, Humor, Male Singers.

SINGER MORISSEY

How dare they!

Morrissey was performing at the House of Blues in Boston recently when he wanted to utilize their kitchen to make himself some grub.

They said “no,” proving even a celebrity can’t always have their way.

“You know what they said?” Morrissey asked. “No. People are just horrible, aren’t they?”

The singer wanted to cook some brown rice and peppers to take with him to his next stop at Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Because of this, Morrissey nicknamed it the “House of Rules.”

He was able to have workers pass out vegetarian info pamphlets in the lobby, though.

Does the House of Blues have strict rules about who they let in the kitchen? Or is it Morrissey they’re afraid to give a knife and skillet to?
