PETA Defends Steakhouse Strippin’ Pamela Anderson

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, April 18th, 2009 in Actresses, Not So Vegetarian.

Pamela Anderson at the Millionaire Fair in Amsterdam

The veg gal Pamela Anderson recently agreed to launch the opening of a strip club. A strip club located in a steakhouse.

While we feel this isn’t the best example a vegetarian should be setting, PETA is defending one of its biggest partners in meatless crime. A statement from the organization:

“Pam is not a host but may be attending as an invited guest, and since steakhouses nowadays have some of the best salad bars and veggie options around, we’re sure she’ll find plenty to eat should she attend.”

Well, sure, a steakhouse always has some vegetables. That’s why they call it “meat and potatoes.”

If she really wants to do some promoting, she’ll champion for a veggie burger on the steakhouse menu.

Heather Mills’ Mighty Meatless Meals In Minutes Finally Here!

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, April 18th, 2009 in Business, Food & Drink, Models.

Farm Sanctuary's 2008 Gala

Update: The Mighty Meatless Meals In Minutes is rumored to have been the name of Heather’s presentation at the Viva! show, not the name of the food line.

Okay. So we’ve been waiting on Heather Mills for the past century to come around and give the name of her new vegan food range.

It’s April, but not April Fool’s Day folks, and the name of her range has actually been unveiled:

Mighty Meatless Meals In Minutes.

That’s quite a vegan mouthful to swallow.

Not only has Heather come forward with the details of her food range, but she’s giving a speech and cooking demonstration about it today in London.

She’ll be giving her ‘Get Healthy With Heather’ speech at the Vegetarian Roadshow, held at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London.

Looks like Mills’ may be following the footsteps of her ex husband, Paul McCartney, who called for Meat-Free Mondays.

“Heather has been developing a new meatless meats food range over the last few years to encourage people to replace meat at least once a week,” said an organizer of the Vegetarian Roadshow event.

It’s awesome that Heather’s bringing out another option for quick, vegan meals.

Can’t wait to see what’s on the old fish restaurant menu!

We admit we’re in love with Missy Higgins. But what’s not to love about her?

A vegan with a beautiful voice and equally talented song writing skills, she’s no stranger to animal issues either. Remember when she got cuddly with the piggy?

Now she’s cozying up with Izzy the dog, and both want to convey a serious message about animals and the fur industry.

“If you wouldn’t wear your dog, please don’t wear any fur,” reads the ad.

“The only difference between your “best friend” and animals killed for their fur is how we treat them. All animals suffer and feel pain. Please don’t wear any fur or fur trim.”

I love little Chez Josephine, when I’m playing 42nd Street—Restaurant Row—I love to do Jean-Claude at Chez Josephine. You know, I go to the places that patronize me, that are good to me, and that are easy on me. Sardi’s always takes care of me—I always have their steamed vegetables and tofu ‘cause I’m dieting. I love the bread—the extraordinary, very, very, thin, paper-thin bread, that’s garlic and thyme, at Orso’s. I love the Harvard Club ‘cause they know me. I’ve been a member all my life, through my father, my husband, and my son. I love The Ivy restaurant in London. I eat there a lot. And I love The Ivy in Los Angeles, on Melrose. Rush Limbaugh Humane Society PSA Professes Love For Cat Punkin

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, April 16th, 2009 in Animal Issues, Radio Hosts, Videos.

Premeire Of HBO's "Bernard and Doris" - Arrivals
When you think of animal rights, the conservative right isn’t the first group that comes to mind.

Rush Limbaugh (yes, that’s not a typo) has recorded a PSA for the Humane Society of the United States.

After the initial shock is over that conservative Rush would be involved with what some of his followers would call an “extreme left group,” here’s something else for you digest: Rush loves his little Punkin!

“When you think of law enforcement and animals, police dogs come to mind,” Rush says. “But law enforcement has another ally in the animal realm and that’s the Humane Society of the United States.”

“I have a cat. That little cat is a treasure to me-Punkin. If anybody harmed Punkin, they would be punished by me.”

Go, Rush. Get em’!

The Humane Society issued a statement saying, “The animal protection movement should never confine itself to the Left or the Right in American politics. Opposition to cruelty and the embrace of the human-animal bond are universal values, and people of every background and point of view should find common purpose with the work and programs of The Humane Society of the United States and its affiliates.”

Yes, we are coming together after all. Listen to Rush’s PSA below.

Dr. Phil McGraw Drops The “V” Word: Oh, No. He Did Not Go There.

Dr. Phil & Robin McGraw Debut Her New Book At Kmart

Yes, indeed he did go there.

On one of his recent shows, Dr. Phil McGraw was introducing his latest Jerry Springer couple dilemma where the two had grown apart.

What potential irreconcilable differences exist? Well, one’s a darn vegan for goodness sakes!

From Vegdaily.com:

“As Mr. Oprah was welcoming the couple he finished the dramatic intro by saying, ” … and now he’s an angry atheist and vegan. (pause) Do those two go together?””

If we wanted to play Dr. Phil, we could analyze this for deeper meaning. Are vegans angry? Margaret Cho thinks so.

Yeah, nothing like sticking the tofu to your spouse to ruin the relationship.
