Tennis legend John McEnroe has recorded a PSA advocating spaying and neutering animals.

McEnroe was known for his temper tantrums and other failed attempts at anger management on the court, and the video humorously plays on that.

McEnroe meets a man at the vet who wonders what he’s doing there. After informing the man he’s there to get his dog fixed, the man says he could never do that to his dog, which prompts McEnroe to give a tirade about how spaying and neutering is best for lowering the number of animals euthanized in shelters and even…gasp…helps with your pet’s temper.

Although John got some good points in about spaying and neutering, he failed to clarify what the guy meant: He was only talking about John’s poor choice of outfit for his dog!

Absolutely cool video of Benji and Joel Madden behind the scenes at Denny’s restaurant, making burritos for Denny’s Rockstar Menu.

Thanks to Joel for the lovely Tweet to direct us there.

The Rockstar menu was created by various musicians who went into Denny’s kitchen and whipped up their favorite grub.

Benji and Joel created a vegetarian burrito with a Boca Burger.

“Kids when you order this, I want you to imagine that we’re back here, making it for you, with love,” says Benji.

We will, Benji. We’ll keep the love alive.

Davey Havok Is Ethically And Ethnically Handsome

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 in Environment-Eco-Green, Male Singers, Videos.

DBTV: Davey Havok of AFI (1 of 3) from The Discerning Brute on Vimeo.

Davey Havok does a three part interview with blogger Joshua Katcher @ The Discerning Brute.

Part one goes into how a man can be ethically handsome. Davey misheard Joshua and thought he said “ethnically” handsome, which results in some laughter, since Davey is of Italian heritage and Joshua is Jewish.

“Having ethical beauty is something that is very rare in our world,” Davey said.

Davey stays ethically handsome by following a vegan diet and even has his own vegan clothing line.

“I am definitely, personally, an environmentalist by way of being vegan,” Davey continues. “If the world were vegetarian or vegan, the impact that it would have on the environment or biosphere would be far greater than if people stopped driving cars.”

Part 2 and 3 of the interview series go live Wednesday and Thursday at Thediscerningbrute.com.

Andy Dick dressed as Ronald McDonald in a PETA protest against McDonald’s in Chicago recently.

PETA wants the company to stop its archaic method of killing chickens, which PETA says is done by electric immobilization.

There is a more humane way to kill, called Controlled-Atmosphere Killing, which involves cutting off the animal’s oxygen supply, causing them to lose consciousness with little to no pain.

“McCruelty, I’m Hatin’ It!” shouted Andy and the other protesters.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, June 20th, 2009 in Animal Issues, Athletes-Games-Sports, Humor, Videos.

Satirical news stories are hilarious.

But one particular document by The Onion highlights the serious issue of racing and entertainment animals that are put to sleep after an injury.

Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson gets put to sleep after a leg injury. It was a difficult decision for her parents and tough on her fans, but she just wouldn’t be competitive anymore and it had to be done.

Sarah Silverman Makes Vegetarian Proclamation?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, June 20th, 2009 in Actresses, Comedians, Videos.

When we heard Sarah Silverman ordered spaghetti without the meatballs, we didn’t think much else of it.

The comedian isn’t listed on any other vegetarian websites and she’s never been an activist, so we figured she just liked her spaghetti sans cow.

Then, we got a tip from reader Anon, saying Sarah was indeed a vegetarian and had even made a video discussing how to cook vegetarian meatballs.

Here’s a clip Anon found with Sarah on The Larry Sanders Show. The caption reads, “All the guests except Sarah were served a six course wild game tasting menu, including Elk, Quayle, and Pheasant.”

One of the guests says they didn’t know Sarah was a vegetarian, to which Sarah replies, “I’m just not a carnivore.”

There’s always the chance Sarah is one of those fish eating vegetarians or has some other technicality that doesn’t make her one. And she didn’t specifically say, “I’m a vegetarian.”

The scene starts around minute 6:49.

What do you think? Is Sarah officially in the club?

Whale Wars Crew Gets In Stinkbomb Showdown

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, June 19th, 2009 in Animal Issues, Reality TV, Videos.

A new episode of Whale Wars is on Animal Planet tonight at 9PM EST, and we’ve got some footage of tonight’s episode featuring the greatest prank an adult can do. Best part: it’s all in the name of saving whales.

The Sea Shepherd crew does a lot of tactics to prevent Japanese whalers from killing whales, including throwing stinkbombs on their boat to create a rather…unpleasant experience.

Watch the clip, “Stinkbomb Showdown,” for a trip down memory lane of high school toilet papering the Principal’s home. Wait…you never did that. You were the good kid and would never do something so…wasteful and not environmentally friendly.

Moby Asks Moby About Self-Righteous Vegan Crap

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, June 19th, 2009 in Humor, Male Musicians, Male Singers, Videos.

Moby recently sat down and interviewed himself.

Yes, you read right. In a hilarious interview, cool video technique combines with Moby’s strange sense of humor, allowing the singer and musician to take on two different personas, one that mocks and ridicules him while asking questions.

“So while we’re here, you got any of that self-righteous vegan crap you want to talk about?” asked Moby’s alter ego, who sports a backwards cap.

“Well, it’s not self-righteous,” Moby answers. “At least, I hope it’s not self-righteous. I’ve been a vegan now for 22 years.”

“Boooring,” sighs alter ego Moby.

“If other people choose to eat meat or dairy products, that’s their choice. I don’t really want to judge them. I hope I’m not being too self-righteous.”

Alter ego Moby says he really wishes Eminem had kicked Moby’s ass at the MTV awards and asks how it feels to be the least attractive musician in the business.

Man, alter egos can be brutal!
