Sean Kingston has donated his face and time to a PETA campaign against chaining dogs.

The tagline, “Chill With Your Dogs, Never Chain Them,” may be catchy, but Sean is hoping the message behind the phrase will stick too.

“Look at it like being a human person. You’re family member is outside with no room to scoot, without a place to stay … that’s how they should look at it,” he says. “A lot of people should just think about: if that was them.”

Sean likes to chill with his dog Sunshine.

According to PETA, chained dogs are more likely to suffer illnesses from being exposed to harsh weather conditions and become vicious after constant confinement.

Watch the video for more on what Sean has to say about caring for dogs.

Dictator Dennis Kucinich–“Everyone Eats Vegan Brownies”

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, December 18th, 2009 in Food & Drink, Politicians, Videos.

Representative Dennis Kucinich completed an interview with reddit.com and gave a deliciously surprising answer when asked, “What would you do if you could be dictator of the United States for a day?”

“Well, I think I would order everyone to have vegan chocolate chip brownies,” Kucinich said.

Ah, the torture!

Kucinich and his wife Elizabeth are both vegans, and constantly voice their support for the lifestyle, including lobbying for vegetarian lunches in schools.

Where were the Kucinichs’ when you were forced to eat cardboard sandwiches at lunch?

“I’ve been a vegan since 1995, and as a result I’ve had great health, tremendous energy, and mental clarity … I had Crohn’s disease as a kid, and a pretty severe case of it, but when I changed my diet my symptoms began to disappear.”

Watch the video and eat your vegan brownie already, before Dictator Kucinich punishes you!

Tegan and Sara have designed their own shoes for vegan friendly shoe company MacBeth and campaigned against fur.

Their fans send them lots of vegan cookbooks.

They admit to liking vegan food.

But, darnit, they’re not vegan and proudly state they enjoy meat!

“We love vegans. My name rhymes with vegan,” jokes Tegan.

Tegan emphasizes that she and Sara prefer free range meat versus factory farmed, which makes the sting to the heart of vegetarians not as bad.

“I miss eating meat so much that I’m really attracted to things that look like meat,” Sara says.

Hello?! What looks like meat more than anythings else?

Paul McCartney has narrated a video for PETA which documents the conditions factory farmed animals endure.

And unlike most PETA ads, he does all this while keeping his clothes on.

“I’ve often said that if slaughterhouses had glass walls, we’d all be vegetarians. Animals raised on modern factory farms and killed in slaughterhouses endure almost unimaginable suffering,” McCartney says.

“I hope that once you see the routine cruelty involved in raising, transporting and killing animals for food, you’ll join the millions of people who have decided to leave meat off their plates for good.”

Paul covers animals crammed in cages on farms, pathogens found in meat products, the risk of diseases like Mad Cow and the impact meat production has on the environment.

“Top Chef” Season 6 Finale Featured Vegetarian Dishes (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 in Food & Drink, Reality TV, Videos.

It’s been a great season for herbivores on Top Chef.

Zooey Deschanel made a guest appearance that challenged the judges to not only cook meat free, but also without gluten and soy.

Then came along Natalie Portman, who dropped the V word on the cheftestants and ended up with a mouthful of shallots and garlic.

Last night’s episode featured the chefs making two dishes-one vegetarian and one featuring a local protein (which could have also been vegetarian…hmpf!) for a party of 150 people.

In the end, Jen put way more salt on her veggie dish than the judges preferred and she was sent packing while the brothers Voltaggio and Gillespie remain standing.

Watch the clip above to hear Jen’s thoughts on her exit.
