Ford Motor Company has created a series of online reality competitions to celebrate the launch of its all-electric, 5-passenger vehicle, the Ford Focus Electric.

Plugged In features celebrity created challenges throughout different cities, with the star’s favorite hot spots included on the itinerary. Two-person teams must use the Ford Electric when visiting each stop on the hunt.

Alicia Silverstone was in charge of creating Plugged In’s San Francisco’s challenge and she chose both a vegan-friendly and animal charity spot for the contestants to visit.

Jay Sean PETA

British musician Jay Sean has recorded a PSA for PETA on all things animal: adoption, circuses, spaying and neutering and fur.

Sean poses with a rescue mutt Stella in a poster that reads, “Adopt, Don’t Buy.”

“Up until I had a dog, I didn’t realize the connection you had, that I had, with animals,” Sean says in a video below.

The actor was given a Mercedes for his transportation needs while filming an adaptation of The Great Gatsby in Australia.

The only problem was that the luxury car included leather seats.

Pope Benedict XVI Should Green His Ride Says PETA

The Pope is not as brash as Mercedes-Benz is, so he doesn’t go around bragging about the number of dead animals it took to make the popemobile. But that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t consider trying to eliminate the dead animals that go into it.

PETA has taken the time to write to Pope Benedict XVI, asking him to request the next car the automobile company makes for him to travel in be manufactured without leather.

It was a very special Earth Day on The Price Is Right recently. Host Drew Carey featured items designed by Elizabeth Olsen, founder of vegan shoe company Olsen Haus Pure Vegan.

Contestants had to guess the price of a collection of Olens’ items: six shoes, two wallets and one handbag.

Biz Stone and his business partner and co-founder of Twitter, Evan Williams, are celebrating five years of saying it in 140 characters.

Stone was recently a guest on Conan O’Brien‘s show when the subject of some of Stone’s past Tweets came up. One of those Tweets was about Stone discovering Amtrak  offered a vegan burger. Stone Tweeted,”Wow, Amtrak serves a vegan burger! Nice.”

“I would not have that burger,” Conan said while laughing.

Well, that’s surely his choice, but we think Conan will miss out on some serious foodie fun!

Vincent Kartheiser has already greened his life by taking the bus or train instead of a car, eating vegetarian and using his neighbor’s john.

Now Kartheiser and his Mad Men co-star Rich Sommer are starring in a PSA for high-speed rail that was created by the public-interest advocacy group U.S. PIRG.

The video is set to debut this Wednesday, March 9, but U.S. PIRG posted a teaser on their Facebook page last week.

The clip shows Kartheiser and Sommer in the Mad Men 1965 setting discussing the possibility of high-speed trains.
