PCRM 5 worst healthy foods

Kids’ meals aren’t necessarily associated with healthy eating. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine verified this when it surveyed a number of restaurants offering children’s meals and noted several nutritional factors about the meal, including calorie, fat and sodium content.

Many people associate chicken as being healthier than beef, but PCRM dietitians revealed that a Chick-fil-A Kids Grilled Nuggets Kids Meal contains the same amount of cholesterol as a Big Mac.

Natalie Portman

Just because Natalie Portman is and has been a longtime vegetarian, doesn’t mean her child will automatically enjoy dining at a restaurant that serves such food.

The actress was spotted at Flore Vegan in Silverlake, California with one-year old son Aleph, who was not happy with mom’s choice and would not stop crying.

That’s too bad, considering Flore Vegan even has a complete child’s menu, featuring a burrito with black beans, cashew cheese and avocado; Tofu Egg Salad Sandwich; Cashew Cheese Quesadilla; and variety of veggie burgers including Portobello Seitan.

Any of these dishes wash down well with “Babycino,” a steamed soy milk beverage.

Bobby Flay

Bobby Flay recommends grilling burgers for dad’s big day, and gave some tips in a recent video posted just in time for Father’s Day.

While the Bobby’s Burger Palace restaurant owner claims to be the authority on grilling meat, he’s a little in the dark on grilling veggie patties.

“Veggie burgers don’t exist in my life,” Flay said. “I haven’t found a good one yet. I don’t want to eat lentils and quinoa pasted together … I’m just not interested in that.”

Fortunately, veggie burgers made from more things than lentils and quinoa can exist in dad’s life, and here are a few tips for grilling meatless patties that everyone–including Flay–should take notes on.

Boris Johnson and Jon Stewart discussed New York’s Mayor Bloombergs proposed ban on soda on a recent episode of The Daily Show.

Sure, soda is scandalous–it’s full of high-fructose corn syrup, empty calories and preservatives–but how does it’s illicitness compare, ounce per ounce, with the same serving of marijuana?

Using glasses filled with both, ahem, “products,” Johnson and Stewart joke that the fine for a restaurant serving a tall glass of “Coke,” (the legal kind) would be greater than a glass of the illegal plant.

Is this Big Brother looking after New Yorkers or just another attempt to curtail choice and freedom?

Fair enough.
