Billy Corgan will join Grace restaurant’s Chef Curtis Duffy in an event that provides both good food and good music entertainment and benefits homeless animals in the Chicago area.

“A Night of Folly” will be available to only 12 lucky guests who had bidded at the 12th Annual PAWS Chicago Fur Ball on Friday, November 15th at the Drake Hotel, 140 East Walton Place, Chicago, Illinois.

“Our goal is to create an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind evening that couldn’t be repeated if you tried!” Corgan said.

“There will be music, theatre, music-theatre, and theatrical musings that challenge both the intellect and senses. A true night of folly brought right to you.”

Billy Corgan Walter E. Smithe Ad Benefits PAWS Chicago (Video)

Billy Corgan‘s commercial debut promotes a local company in his hometown and benefits an animal welfare organization.

“I can honestly say that if it had been anybody else in the country outside of Chicago … I probably wouldn’t have done it,” Corgan said, according to the Chicago Tribune.

“(And because) the commercial’s obviously very focused on the Chicago market,” added Corgan of the combined advertisement for his wrestling company Reinaissance Pro and Walter E. Smithe furniture.

The furniture company donated $50,000 to PAWS Chicago–the city’s largest no-kill animal organziation– in exchange for Corgan’s participation.

2012 saw a lot of awesome vegetarians, vegans and plant-loving people make headlines.

Here are a few of Vegetarian Star’s favorite.

The first female to do so in 20 years. Maybe the first vegetarian ever.

#3. Hell’s Kitchen competitor opens vegetarian sushi restaurant.
Reality TV isn’t always nice to vegetarians, but reality business may be as Guy Vaknin‘s Beyond Sushi shows what you can do with a roll of seaweed beyond Flipper.

Billy Corgan ZuZu’s Delivers Fantastic Vegan Chocolate Cake

Billy Corgan opened his long-awaited tea cafe in Highland Park, a suburb of Chicago, IL, a little over a week ago.

Opening day featured free tea and performances from the Smashing Pumpkins band member. But Corgan warned that, “If people come in to stalk me I won’t hang out because I don’t want to disrupt the customers.”

So Vegetarian Star stopped by a few days later to avoid such a disruption and instead stalk the vegan desserts.

There were a total of about six on the menu and the big slice of vegan chocolate cake with an equally vegan vanilla frosting had the biggest celebrity factor. The texture of the cake itself was extremely light and airy and the portion was well worth the $5 for the slice.

Billy Corgan opened his tea shop in Chicago today. Madame ZuZu’s is said to be a spot for all ages to enjoy good drinks, music, art and live performances.

Corgan interviewed with Gothamist when the subject of Madame Zuzu’s vegan food came up.

I think I read that you were only doing vegan food there?
Vegan dessert. Sugar-free vegan dessert.

Are you a vegan?
No, I really want to be but I’m also anemic so it’s really difficult for me to be vegan. I just get so weary.

Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan is finally opening his much talked about tea shop in the Chicago suburbs.

Madame Zuzu’s will welcome all ages on Thursday, September 13 at 8:00 a.m., serving as a “social hub for the community, blending tea drinkers with the arts,” states Broadway World.

“I’m a tea guy and living in Highland Park since 2003, I’ve always wanted to open a salon like this for everyone to enjoy,” describes Corgan. “This is a place with no age boundaries. We hope to attract everyone from young students to seniors. With a blend of music, photo galleries, art displays and speakers, I think Madame ZuZu’s offers something for everyone.”

Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan plans to open a tea cafe that will also serve vegetarian sandwiches in the Highland Park area of his hometown of Chicago, Illinois.

Corgan says it’s because Starbucks is “all about ‘sameness’ and it attracts the same fucking people” he doesn’t want to “hang out with.”

Fair enough.
