Mary McCartney Shares Recipes For Meat Free Mondays

McCartney Family Launch Meat Free Monday - Photocall

Mary McCartney is sharing her recipes to promote the McCartney family’s Meat Free Monday campaign.

Growing up, Mary says she wasn’t necessarily into eating healthy, and enjoyed the taste of meat.

Like her mother, she advocates eating vegetarian to her children, but doesn’t demand it.

“I liked the taste. But it wasn’t a rebellion. Mum always said, I don’t cook it, but you’re allowed it. And that’s what I say to my kids. The difference is that then we did it because we didn’t want animals to be mass farmed. Now it’s because meat production puts such pressure on the environment.”

Mary says although she’s influenced by her mom’s style of cooking, she tends to bake more and finds it easier to translate her culinary ideas into a recipe.

Mary is putting less pressure on the environment with her recipes for sauteed leeks, puy lentils and feta and aubergine layered bake.

More Celebs at The Twilight Saga: New Moon Premiere in LA

Joan Jett is set to make an appearance at the Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary’s Celebrity Dog Wash on Saturday March 6 at Carlin Park in Jupiter, Florida.

Joan’s washed a few dogs in her lifetime and even attempted to wash her cat (not very successful).

“She wasn’t having it,” Joan said in Pbpulse.

The vegetarian rocker likes the fact that Safe Harbor accepts pit pulls while other shelters reject them, and adds that so many people are quick to treat animals as objects.

“I think too many people today think of animals as a nice piece of furniture, or a nice pair of shoes or something. It’s always important to remember that animals think and feel pain. I think they reason — I believe a lot of things that other people don’t about animals and their intelligence. Humans beings are a little arrogant in thinking that we know what they think and how they think. I just find it very rewarding being with them, and whatever I can do to give back, I do.”

The celebrity dog wash begins at noon and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are set to perform at 7:30 PM.

Dave Navarro PETA “Ink Not Mink” Ad

Dave Navarro

Dave Navarro

Tattooed Dave Navarro is giving an almost full frontal view of his body to promote the cause of saving animals from the fashion industry.

Back in his earlier rocker days, Navarro wore what he calls “over the top outfits” that contained fur.

These days, he’s happy with his own skin decorations.

“Some of the simple things you can do to help save animals is not buy fur, stay away from products that have been animal tested,” he told PETA. “It’s really very, very simple to just support something or buy something that doesn’t brutalize animals like this.”

Navarro scores another point for the gentlemen in the category of sexy PETA ads.

Knut The Polar Bear Castration Recommended By Activists

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010 in Animal Issues.

Knut Celebrates Birthday

Knut, the famous polar bear who was once cared for by Berlin zookeeper Thomas Dorflein, should not reproduce with his den mate Giovanna, according to PETA.

The animal rights group says that Knut and Giovanna share the same grandfather and breeding would risk genetic abnormalities.

“It reduces the genetic diversity, and there’s a danger of inbreeding depression with future offspring,” said a representative from the group.

PETA is calling for Knut to be castrated in order to prevent these abnormalities.

“Knut fans should be aware that only Knut’s castration would allow a long-term cohabitation of Giovanna and Knut. All other hopes and desires would bring the polar bear population in captivity to its pre-programmed demise even more rapidly.”

Vanity Fair And Dior Host Kimberly Brooks' The Stylist Project Exhibition

Biggest Loser coach Bob Harper has Tweeted some words of encouragement for those looking to improve their diet and health.

Bob wants you and everyone else to sign up for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine’s 21 Day Kickstart Program.

This month’s celebrity tip is from Ginnifer Goodwin, and she’s offering one of her favorite recipes containing Gardein faux chicken and bok choy.

It’s completely free of any meat and dairy, including Ginnifer’s former vice–cheese.

“For most of my life I lived on cheeseburgers, macaroni and cheese, and pizza,” Ginnifer says on the site.

“I just KNEW that “I absolutely, positively could never give up cheese.” Not only was I absolutely, positively wrong about myself, but now two of my four parents have gone vegan. They see the impact a plant-based diet has had on my life and want to live more healthfully and happily, too.”

Ginnifer is a champion for converting two of her parents to veganism.

Can’t wait to see her convert all the parents on Big Love to a meat and dairy free diet as well.

Jimmy Kimmel Says Tasty Animals Prevent Vegetarianism (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010 in Not So Vegetarian, TV Hosts, Videos.

Jimmy Kimmel told Ginnifer Goodwin he’s considered going vegetarian, but there’s something about a roast that prevents him from doing so.

“I thought about it. I tried to run it through my head that maybe it’s not a good idea. But then they come out so delicious,” he said.

Ugh!

Horrible humor even for a late night talk show.

But Ginnifer offers some support, explaining the call of meatballs sounds just as sweet as it did years ago.

“I told everybody I did not stop eating animals because I did not like the taste,” Ginnifer said.

Luckily, there’s a solution to both of their problems.

Faux meat! Faux meat! Faux meat!

Members Of Nat'l Governors Association Meet With Obama

Barack Obama has just been given a warning about his cholesterol numbers, but that didn’t stop him from ogling the fried buffet presented to him when he visited a restaurant in Georgia.

“I don’t want any lectures about my cholesterol,” Obama said. “Don’t tell Michelle.”

Such a shame.

The First Lady may never read ABC News and learn about the fried chicken and mayonnaise drenched potato salad served, but the lipid tests never lie.

Let’s hope Mr. President didn’t give into temptation and only put baked beans and sweet potatoes between his lips.
